MUA – Gel Eyeliner in Tribe

This MUA Gel Eyeliner in Tribe is the first item I have tried from my new MUA Makeup Academy haul and it didn’t disappoint. This is one of MUA’s more expensive make-up items at the still-bargainous price of £3!
This gel eyeliner is a great product, with a cute applicator brush hidden inside the lid – you just unscrew the lid from the bottom gel pot and then pull the top half of the lid off to reveal the brush. The bottom pot contains the actual gel eyeliner product, although I wouldn’t really describe it as a ‘gel’, it has the consistency of a very thick paste.
When I first saw the applicator brush I was a bit worried that it might be a bit thick to get a nice fine line, but it wasn’t a problem. The gel eyeliner is easy to apply, but you do need to get plenty on the brush and it dries very quickly. You can see from the swatch image below that Tribe is a bright turquoisey blue colour with a very feint shimmer.
Apply the Gel Eyeliner gradually along your lash line with short gradual strokes, starting from the inner eye and working outwards. I like to apply a little flick at the outer eye, which helps to lift the eyes. The brush does produce rather a thick line, so if you like a really thin line of eyeliner just along the very line of your eyelashes then you may need to use a thinner brush.
MUA describe their Gel Eyeliner as ‘smudge-proof’, although I would describe it as ‘full-on waterproof, smudge-proof and great for weddings, funerals and weepy movies’! The image below shows the swatch on my arm after I had rubbed it hard with a damp tissue, literally none of the product had budged at all! It does come off OK with eye make-up remover (I used Clarins Gentle Eye Make-up Remover) but it takes a little bit of rubbing so be careful if you have sensitive eyes.
MUA Gel Eyeliner is available in 4 colours – this one Tribe, plus a black, grey and brown. I really love coloured eyeliners and would really love it if MUA would bring out some more colours in this product – a green and a purple would be great! I will be wearing this all Summer long, and there is plenty of it in the pot to last for ages.
MUA Gel Eyeliner in Tribe is priced at £3 and can be purchased from MUA Store.
