MUA – Blush Perfection Cream Blusher in Bittersweet

I’ve already reviewed a couple of MUA powder Blushers (why not see what I thought about MUA Blusher in Shade 1) but this is the first of their Blush Perfection Cream Blushers that I have tried.
Prior to my first experience with MUA make-up I had always been a bit of a beauty snob and thought that you get what you pay for, but evidently this isn’t true any more with more and more great budget beauty brands being launched.
MUA Blush Perfection Cream Blusher in Bittersweet is a sugary bubblegum pink coloured cream blusher in a small rectangular compact. Sugary bluey-pinks are my favourite blush shades so Bitersweet is perfect for me. I apply the Cream Blusher to my cheekbones using my Real Techniques Stippling Brush, this brush is perfect for applying cream products and I could probably do with ordering another one or two as I’m forever having to wash it to apply a different product. Just a tiny amount of the blusher should be added to the very tips of the Stippling Brush, then the colour ‘pressed’ onto the cheeks using a circular motion. The colour applies quite sparingly to the cheeks and you need to apply several layers to build up the colour gradually – keep checking in the mirror as it’s easy to apply more colour but it’s difficult to wipe off excess colour without removing your foundation base underneath.
You can see from the swatch image below that Blush Perfection Cream Blusher in Bittersweet is quite pale, I think it would suit pale skintones particularly well, but probably best avoiding it if you have olive or darker skin and go for one of the other 5 shades available.
I have found that the blush colour seems to fade slightly throughout the day, perhaps it sinks in to the foundation base underneath or something similar, but you can always add a little more to top it up.
I have also been using this MUA Cream Blusher as a lip colour (yes, I really know how to live wild!), it needs to be applied using a small lip brush but it makes a lovely sugar pink glossy lip colour… It would look good dabbed over a bright pink lipstick too just to give a bit of gloss.
I think MUA have done really well with their packaging to say they are a budget brand. The no nonsense black and clear packaging makes their products feel more premium than they actually are. And as with all Superdrug make-up products none of MUA’s cosmetics are tested on animals.
I am quite impressed with MUA Blush Perfection Cream Blusher in Bittersweet, although I do usually prefer pressed powder blushers rather than cream ones so this is probably a product I will only use occasionally rather than every day. I like the fact that it has the name Bittersweet too, and not just a shade number, like MUA’s powder blushers.
MUA Blush Perfection Cream Blusher in Bittersweet is priced at £2 and can be purchased from MUAStore and Superdrug stores. Unfortunately I often find that a lot of MUA products are always out of stock, but this one is currently available so get it while you can!
