A review of a brand new product today, it’s Apiclear Purifying Facial Peel* from Manuka Doctor.
Manuka Doctor is a skincare brand that uses a couple of very specific unique ingredients within its products, mainly Manuka Honey and Purified Bee Venom (PBVi):
– Manuka Honey boosts elastin and cell regeneration within the skin and it also has antibacterial and anti-inflammatory properties. You’ll probably have noticed that honey is becoming more and more popular within skincare products at the moment, due to its benefits.
– Purified Bee Venom is the purest form of bee venom collected for skincare. It contains a potent combination of natural enzymes, peptides and amino acids and it’s a potent anti-ager and natural alternative to antibiotic therapy for acne. The bees aren’t harmed whilst gathering the venom, but a lot of people still think it’s cruel and PBVi is an ingredients that is shunned by cruelty-free campaigners.
Purifying Facial Peel is a brand new product from the Apiclear range and I was one of the first to try it out. Aimed at congested and problem skin this mask targets blemishes, blackheads and sun damaged skin as it lifts dead skin cells, stimulates cell renewal and purifies pores promoting a radiant and glowing complexion. It also contains Kaolin clay that gently draws impurities out of the skin.
It’s a thick white creamy mask that you apply to the face then leave for 10-15 minutes. It’s quite sticky to apply but feels nice and cooling once it’s on the skin. It dries quite tight and makes it look like the skin has a pliable, white plastic coating!
Once the mask has dried you just peel it off, it peels off really easily in one big sheet – in fact it’s one of the easiest peel-off masks I’ve ever used (so many of them peel off in tiny pieces leaving loads of residue). If there are any flecks of residue left on the skin just rinse away with cool water.
I’ve only been using Manuka Doctor Purifying Facial Peel for two weeks so it’s not long enough to see the long term benefits of it but I’d definitely say I’m impressed so far. Straight after using the peel my skin feels soft and plump, and it’s definitely started to dry up the spots and blemishes on my chin and around my jawline.
I’d really like to try some more skincare products from Manuka Doctor to see if their other ranges live up to this one. They launched Firm Skin Facial Moisturiser at the same time as the peel, and they also have a great range of face masks too.
What do you think of the image above? I’ve been testing out the blurred background setting on my new Canon camera! I think I’ve still got a little way to go but I like the effect.
Apiclear Purifying Facial Peel is usually priced at £29.99 for 100ml, but is currently on introductory offer at HALF PRICE for just £14.95 from Manuka Doctor.
Manuka Doctor recommend trying a patch test on a small area of skin first to ensure you’re not sensitive to the Purified Bee Venom.
