Cleansing brushes are really popular at the moment, and one of the leading brands is Magnitone. I was sent this pink Lucid Daily Cleansing & Exfoliation Brush* to try out and see how the Magnitone 7-Day Challenge worked for me!
The Magnitone Lucid brush is designed to deep cleanse your skin in just 1 minute a day, by using Active Electromagnetic Technology™ whereby tiny pulsations send vibrations into the skin helping to unclog pores, remove dead skin cells and generally improve the skin.
The Magnitone Lucid comes conveniently packaged in a box with everything you need to get started, the packaging is so well designed. There’s a handy travel charger (plus a two-pin adapter if you need it for travelling abroad) and an instruction leaflet.
As if by magic the charger cleverly attaches to the brush via a magnet so there’s no hole or plug where water can get in. The battery lasts for ages too, I’ve been using the brush for over a week now and haven’t needed to charge it up yet.
Magnitone claim that using the Lucid cleansing brush can give you softer, clearer and brighter skin in just 7 days… so how did I get on? I’ve been using the brush for just over a week now, making it part of my cleansing process at night before I go to bed. I’ve been using it with a cream cleanser – I simply smear the cleanser all over my face using my hands, then switch on the Magnitone Lucid brush and gently move the bristles all over my face for a minute until the whole surface of my face has been covered.
The brush powers itself for a minute before switching off, and it beeps every 20 seconds so you know where you are in the process. I’ve been concentrating on my forehead and nose for 20 seconds, each cheek for 10 seconds and then finally my chin and upper neck for 20 seconds. The time seems to go really quickly! Once the brush has switched itself off you just rinse off your cleanser as normal using warm water.
I had expected that the brush would be really spinny and a bit scratchy, but it sort of oscillates and vibrates rather than spins and feels quite gentle on the skin.
The brush has 2 cleansing modes – Deep Clean and Sensitive – to be honest there isn’t really much difference between the 2 modes but I suspect the Sensitive mode must be slightly gentler. Plus the Magnitone Lucid is fully waterproof so you can use it in the bath or shower if you want.
So what results have I seen after a week? Well my skin feels smoother, and I’ve definitely got less blocked pores on my chin. I’m actually really surprised and pleased with the results so far, 1 minute a day doesn’t seem very long at all but it certainly seems to be working.
I find it works best with a thick cream cleanser, a liquid cleanser is just too runny and the brush does work well with an oil cleanser too but it’s more difficult to keep the bristles clean. You do have to take time to keep the brush head clean. Magnitone recommend cleaning the brush head after each use, this will remove cleanser and grime, and it does look quite dirty if you’ve been wearing make-up when you use the brush. I’ve been given a tip to clean my brush using a small squirt of gentle shampoo so I’m going to try that! You can buy replacement brush heads, Magnitone say it’s best to change your brush head every 8 weeks.
Overall I really like the Magnitone Lucid, I’d definitely recommend it. I’m really pleased I’ve tried it, it’s becoming part of my everyday cleansing routine now. It’s available in 4 bright colours – Aqua Green, Dazzling Blue, Sunshine Yellow or the one that I’ve been using, Plush Pink. There’s also a limited edition Pixie Lott pink version that you may have seen advertised quite a lot recently.
Magnitone Lucid is usually priced at £69.99, but if you buy from Magnitone and use the code ‘LauraS20’ at checkout you’ll get an exclusive 20% OFF! (Offer ends 1st June 2015). Replacement brush heads are available at £15.99 for 2.
