Look after yourself with Kneipp

I’m a real advocate of natural skincare and products that use herbs and organic ingredients as I believe that they’re better for your skin than artificial chemicals. I first came across Kneipp in Summer last year when I tried out their Stress Free Herbal Bath. Kneipp is a US brand, set up by naturopath Sebastian Kneipp in 1891 and all of their products are based around natural oils.
I was recently sent a selection of their products to try out, this included Balancing Lavender Herbal Bath* which I’ve wanted to try for ages, and two of the new Kneipp Sparkling Bath Tablets*.
This is a mini travel size 20ml bottle of the beautiful relaxing Balancing Herbal Bath, it contains Lavender Essential Oil and smells beautiful! You just pour it under running water and let it infuse into your bath before getting in for a soak. It’s quite a dark blue/purple colour and will colour your bath too, but don’t worry it doesn’t dye the skin! A small 20ml bottle like this will do a couple of baths, it also comes in a larger 200ml bottle.
Not only does the essential oil help soften the skin and relax the body, it releases a warming vapour into the air to de-stress the mind too. I love the scent of Lavender, although I appreciate that it’s not for everyone and can sometimes be considered a bit ‘old ladyish’. I used this Herbal Bath a couple of weeks after giving birth to my baby girl, when my body was still feeling tired and achy, and after a 20 minute soak in this I felt really refreshed and relaxed.
These Sparkling Bath Tablets are new from Kneipp, they’re a bit like a bath bomb but don’t look quite as pretty. I was sent the Joint & Muscle one with Arnica, and the Cold Season one with Eucalyptus. Each Sparkling Bath Tablet comes wrapped in its own packet that you just tear open, and when you take it out you just drop the hard, round tablet into the bath water and it starts to fizz and dissolve. I’ve found that it’s best to put it in whilst the tap is still running as it can take a while to fully dissolve, and it might leave a little bit of sandy residue on the bottom of the bath at first but if you swish it about it’ll disappear quickly. The Sparkling Bath Tablets are non-oily and just leave a light foam on the surface of the water – but not as much as a bubble bath.
The Arnica Joint & Muscle tablet smells a bit medicinal but it certainly works and helps to relax aching limbs. The Eucalyptus Cold Season tablet has a strong menthol vapour and refreshes the head and helps to clear the nose and throat – perfect for when you have a cold.
I’m really impressed with these Kneipp herbal bath products, they might not be the most pretty or glamorous of items but they contain natural ingredients and they really work. The Herbal Bath would make a great gift for someone who does a lot of physical exercise or a busy job, and I’d recommend always keeping a Cold Season Sparking Bath Tablet in the bathroom cupboard for when you have a cold or blocked nose.
