Living Nature – Thickening Mascara in Jet Black

I noticed the other day that I haven’t done many mascara reviews recently, so today I am reviewing Thickening Mascara in Jet Black* from natural cosmetics experts Living Nature. Living Nature is a New Zealand beauty brand that uses only 100% natural ingredients, preservatives and fragrances in all of its products. You may have already read my review of their Precious pink lipstick, you can read that here if you missed it.
The mascara brush is nothing fancy, just a regular traditional round brush with lots of bristles. The mascara itself is quite thick, and contains Halloysite clay to help thicken lashes, and prevent clumps.
I do find it a little difficult to get plenty of mascara on the brush, and have to pump the brush in and out of the tube to get a good coating of the mascara on it (this can lead to the product drying out). Because of this it is easiest with this product to apply lots of thin coats and build up the coverage gradually – not great if you are in a hurry, but it does mean you get a nice even coating of mascara on the lashes and no big clumps.
You can see from the image above that the mascara is very black. I find that it lasts all day without flaking too, and it doesn’t smudge underneath my eyebrows (where my lashes touch the skin when I blink) which is a problem I get with a lot of mascaras. Overall I am really pleased with this Thickening Mascara – particularly as it contains only 100% natural ingredients so I know there’s nothing nasty in there.
I do find the packaging of this product very plain though, the mascara tube is plain black with a rubbery texture, the only detailing is Living Nature’s round logo on the end of the lid, printed in white.
Living Nature is a brand that I am gradually growing to love, I think it’s so important that we know what ingredients are within our cosmetics and skincare.
Thickening Mascara is priced at $41 New Zealand dollars – this works out at around £20.81 – and it is also available in brown. I know it’s not cheap, but I do think it is worth it for a natural product. Available from Living Nature.
