Living Nature – Luminous Pressed Powder in Light

If you’re a regular read of Beauty Best Friend then you’ll know that I’ve reviewed a few products from Living Nature over the past year. It started with their Summer Bronze Pressed Powder that I fell in love with last Summer (you can read that review here).
Living Nature was launched in 1987 in New Zealand. Their products contain no synthetics, use only 100% natural ingredients, preservatives and fragrances and are never tested on animals.
Today I am reviewing Luminous Pressed Powder from Living Nature, it is available in three shades and I have the Light one. The pressed powder contains a range of natural minerals that combine to make this powder reflective and aim to add a soft luminous glow to your complexion. I loved the sound of this as I find a lot of pressed powders can be very matt and make your skin look dull and dry.
I like Living Nature’s packaging, the black palettes are classy and simple, and I love that Living Nature’s circular logo has been imprinted into the powder itself. It also comes with a small, soft, round powder puff, which unfortunately I don’t find really applies the powder very well but at least it is there if you need it.
I have been using this Luminous Pressed Powder every day for a week now. You can clearly see the powder’s luminous golden particles in the palette but I don’t really find that they show on the skin, and the effect is quite matt which is a bit disappointing as I had been hoping for a nice glow. You can see from the swatch image below that the powder also has quite a chalky/powdery finish which I find you often get from mineral cosmetics. However I do find that this Luminous Pressed Powder works well on my combination skin, the powder absorbs any oil from my chin and nose and prevents my face from looking shiny which is something that oftens happens after an hour or so when wearing other powders.
The swatch image above also shows that the colour of the powder is fairly pale, it is much paler than it looks in the palette – something that Living Nature point out on their website – so if you are thinking about ordering this product perhaps go for the shade lighter than you think you might need. The Light shade is perfect for those with pale skin.
I wouldn’t recommend this Luminous Pressed Powder for those with dry skin – a couple of days ago I had a small dry patch on my cheek which really stood out when wearing this powder – but I would recommend it for those with oily or combination skins as it helps prevent shine on the skin. Plus you can use this powder safe in the knowledge that you’re not applying any unwanted nasty chemicals to your skin.
Luminous Pressed Powder is priced at around £27.42 and is available from Living Nature‘s New Zealand website with international delivery. If you’d prefer to order from a UK supplier then it is also available from Naturisimo, priced at £28.
