Lancome – Gloss In Love in Under The Spotlight

This Gloss In Love lipgloss was another Lancome sample that I got in my Selfridges Beauty Advent Calendar, but as it’s such a popular product I wanted to review it and let my readers know what I thought of it.
Under The Spotlight (number 385) is a raspberry pink with lots of shimmer and shine, but it’s not too bright. It’s probably not the sort of colour I would normally choose for myself (I usually stick to pale pinks and nude browns) but one of the reasons that I love trying out trial sizes and samples so much is that you end up having a go with things that you wouldn’t always try out and sometimes you find a real gem.
You can clearly see the shimmer in the swatch image above, and this shimmer really adds to the glossy shine when it is on the lips. It applies to the lips easily using the felt applicator inside the lid, the pointed end is great for defining the top lip, but it is a bit runny and gloopy once it is on the lips and personally I prefer my lipglosses to be less sticky. Does anyone else get their hair stuck in their lipgloss when it’s windy?
Gloss In Love does stay glossy and shiny for a good few hours though, and it certainly doesn’t dry out the lips given that it is fairly liquid. So if you do suffer from dry lips it might be worth giving this lipgloss a try.
You can see how lovely and shiny Gloss In Love looks on the lips from the image above and the shimmer stands out well too. It was actually quite difficult to take this photo as the gloss is so shiny it reflects in the light. I think Under The Spotlight is a little bit too bright for me, but it would look good used very sparingly over a paler pink lipstick to add a little extra shine. I would love to try out one of the paler shades of Gloss In Love, to see how that looks with my paler skintone.
Overall I would say that this is a nice product if you like your lipgloss to be uber-glossy and supershiny. If you prefer more of a subtle shimmer it’s probably not for you though.
Gloss In Love is available in 12 shades, in a range of pinks, reds, purples and beiges, and is priced at £20 for 6ml from Feel Unique.
