If you’ve never heard of L.A.B.2 it stands for ‘Live And Breathe Beauty’, and their philosophy is to provide ‘Luxe For Less’ which I for one am all in favour of! The L.A.B.2 range of brushes encompasses FiberLuxe™ Technology, synthetic bristles specially designed with the softest and highest quality filaments that enable superior pigment pick-up and release for even colour distribution.
I was sent this great little eye make-up brush kit to try out, I’ve been using the brushes for around two weeks now to create various eye looks.
The Strokes Of Genius Brush Kit* contains five eye make-up brushes, here’s a brief description of each brush and what it’s for (from top to bottom):
Eyeshadow Brush – distributes colour evenly all over the lids, crease and brow bone.
Brow & Eyeliner Brush – fills in brows and lines eyes for extra definition.
Pointed Eyeliner Brush – delivers a precise, firm, even line for either upper or lower lashline.
Crease Brush – accentuates the crease and blends colours seamlessly together to soften harsh lines.
Brow & Lash Groomer – dual ended tool that grooms, combs, and defines brows and lashes.
My favourite brush is the Crease Brush, it’s fairly firm but not too hard and it’s perfect for blending two or more shades together so there are no harsh lines. My least favourite is the Brow & Lash Groomer, I’ve never been able to use the little combs on these types of brushes, they don’t go through my lashes and the teeth are too wide to use on the brows, the stiff brush and mascara-style brush are great to tame brows though.
Previous to owning this Strokes Of Genius kit I’ve always applied my eyeliner in pencil form, but I’ve started to use the L.A.B.2 Brow & Eyeliner Brush to turn dark eyeshadows into eyeliner, the stiff bristles make it really easy to draw a straight line and the effect is subtle.
On the back of the packet there’s a handy guide to how to use each brush, which is really useful especially if you’re new to make-up brushes – plus the fact that the brush name is printed on each brush handle makes them even more suited to newbies.
These aren’t the best looking make-up brushes I’ve ever seen, but they are nice to use. The ‘soft touch’ rubberised handles make the brushes really easy to grip and I think this kit includes a great starter selection of brushes that you can add to later if necessary. L.A.B.2 also offers a 4-piece face make-up brush kit, called ‘I’m Turning Pro’, plus a selection of other brushes sold individually including a lip brush.
L.A.B.2 Strokes Of Genius Brush Kit is priced at £18.99, available from Superdrug.
