I am currently taking part in an initiative working with BNT News International, a global beauty/fashion/lifestyle and entertainment source based in Seoul, South Korea. I am helping BNT to promote a selection of new and exciting Korean beauty products to a UK audience, these are products that you probably won’t have seen before and some of them are really different and unique.
Today I am reviewing another haircare product from Korean beauty brand Daeng Gi Meo Ri, a couple of months ago I reviewed their Ja Dam Hwa Scalp & Hair Cleansing Treatment. Daeng Gi Meo Ri specialise in herbal shampoos, conditioners and hair treatments and this is their Oriental Special Shampoo* gift pack.
The box is really large and contains two bottles of the shampoo – a large 500ml pump bottle and a smaller travel sized 145ml bottle. I think this would make a really nice gift, given that it comes gift boxed.
The shampoo itself is quite thick and brown. All of the ingredients and directions on the back of the bottles are in Korean so I have had to do some investigation on the internet to find out a bit more about the product. The ingredients include lots of different herbs that aim to deep cleanse the hair, and like regular shampoo should be applied and rinsed out twice before following with a conditioner.
I’ve only been using Oriental Special Shampoo for just over a week so far. It feels quite nice whilst you are washing your hair, it lathers fairly well and makes your hair feel squeaky clean whilst you are using it. However once I have applied and rinsed out conditioner and then towel dried my hair it does feel a bit dry and tangled. Then when my hair has been dried it still feels quite dry – I would suggest that Oriental Special Shampoo is best for those with oily hair and scalp, and make sure you use a good nourishing conditioner afterwards too.
Whilst I like the idea of washing my hair with herbal products I don’t think that Oriental Special Shampoo is the one for me. My thick frizzy hair doesn’t feel nourished by it, and I end up needing to add serum or oil before drying to tame the dryness and the frizz. It might be worth a try if you have oily hair though…
Whilst Daeng Gi Meo Ri Oriental Special Shampoo isn’t readily available in the UK I have managed to find the gift pack for sale on eBay priced at $30.99 (around £20) plus P&P.
