KOREAN BEAUTY – BRTC Jasmine Skincare

I am currently taking part in an initiative working with BNT News International, a global beauty/fashion/lifestyle and entertainment source based in Seoul, South Korea. I am helping BNT to promote a selection of new and exciting Korean beauty products to a UK audience, these are products that you probably won’t have seen before and some of them are really different and unique.
You may have already seen some of my previous Korean beauty reviews, such as this post about Nature Republic Ginseng Royal Silk Watery Cream that I published last week.
Today I’m reviewing a duo of skincare products from BRTC – this is a premium Korean skincare brand that I’d not heard of before receiving these products. Both packaged in purple boxes the products are from BRTC’s Jasmine Moist System collection.
Jasmine Waterful Sleeping Pack* – this is an overnight face mask that you apply before bed then wash off in the morning. Overnight masks are a relatively new phenomenon here in the UK but over in Asia they’re a more common aspect of skincare.
Developed for sensitive skin this Sleeping Pack’s ingredients include Jasmine Flower Water and Blue Phyto Complex which is a special herbal blend developed by BRTC to soothe sensitive and stressed skin. Sadly the ingredients also include methylparaben and I’d like to see this replaced with a more natural preservative.
The product is a slightly translucent white cream and you just apply a thin layer to freshly cleansed skin before you go to bed. Make sure you tie your hair back from your face first though as it’s quite sticky and you don’t want to be waking up with your hair stuck to your face! Then when you wake up rinse it off and apply moisturiser as normal. My skin feels nice and soft and nourished when I’ve used this mask, it’s definitely something that I’ll continue to use.
The packaging does feel a bit cheap though, the purple box is made of quite thin cardboard and the printing on the tub’s lid has gone a bit wonky at the back. But overall it’s the face mask itself that we’re interested in and it’s a good one. There’s also a small spatula included inside the box which is useful to scoop the mask out of the tub without having to stick your fingers in.
Jasmine Water BB Cream* – this is a regular BB Cream whose ingredients, like those of the Sleeping Pack, also include Jasmine and Blue Phyto Complex.
It feels much thicker than many of the BB Creams that I’ve tried in the past and gives a denser coverage too – I’d say it was somewhere between a BB Cream and a foundation. It only comes in one shade, a creamy beige colour, and whilst it looks quite dark when you squeeze it out of the tube onto your finger it goes onto the skin much a lighter shade. Despite being developed for sensitive skin I find that my face feels a bit itchy and stingy when I first apply the Jasmine Water BB Cream so for this reason I’ve only used it a couple of times and probably won’t be trying it again which is disappointing. I also think it looks a bit chalky once it has dried too.
On the plus side this BB Cream incorporates SPF 30 so it protects skin from the harsh effects of the sun, something that I always look for in a good BB Cream.
The only website that I can find that stocks these BRTC skincare products and that ships to the UK is SASA.com, but you will need to pay shipping fees. Alternatively keep an eye on eBay as there are loads of stores selling Korean beauty products with free shipping.
BRTC Jasmine Waterful Sleeping Pack is priced at £30.80 (around £20), from SASA.com.
BRTC Jasmine Water BB Cream is priced at $29.50 (around £19), from SASA.com.
