John Frieda – Full Repair Hydrate & Rescue Shampoo & Conditioner

I wouldn’t describe my hair as damaged, but it is coloured and the ends get very dry and flyaway, so anything that promises to hydrate and rescue hair is welcome! I was recently asked to try out this duo from John Frieda’s Full Repair range – Hydrate & Rescue Shampoo and Conditioner and have been using them for just over a week.
The Full Repair range promises to ‘reverse damage with every use’ and I wasn’t sure what to expect from these products, as I know it’s not possible to actually repair damage to hair such as split ends, etc, so I was looking forward to seeing what benefits this John Frieda shampoo and condtioner brought. Both products have a hydrating formula, and the ingredients include Inca Inchi Oil which is rich in omega-3, this helps to rescue hair from the look and feel of damage as it nourishes. The Full Repair range is safe for chemically treated or coloured hair.
Both the Full Repair shampoo and conditioner are creamy white, slightly pearlised, with a nice scent. The shampoo lathers well but it does contain sodium laureth sulfate (SLS) so you might want to avoid this product if SLS is an ingredient you are sensitive to. The conditioner feels nice and creamy whilst massaging it into the hair, and the hair already feels nice and soft and smooth whilst you are rinsing the product out.
After drying and straightening my hair does feel lovely and soft, and it has a lovely gentle fragrance that had been left behind by the products. I still have a few split ends though – nothing is going to get rid of those apart from a good trim! I’m not sure if the John Frieda Full Repair products could be described as miracle-workers, but overall I would say this is a good shampoo and conditioner for dry or coloured hair.
UPDATE 18th August 2017 – the John Frieda Full Repair Hydrate & Rescue range has been discontinued and replaced with a new John Frieda Full Repair Strengthen & Restore range which includes a shampoo rich in omega 3 oil aimed at reducing breaking whilst brushing, and a conditioner which adds body for full, flowing locks. Both are priced at £5.99 each for 250ml tubes, available from Boots.
