Jelly Pong Pong 2 in 1 Eyeliner & Shadow Review

I received this 2-in-1 Eyeliner & Shadow in black from Jelly Pong Pong in my August Glossybox. My first impressions were mixed – the pencil was a bit scratched despite being in wrapped in a protective plastic, and I would have thought that most people will already have a black eyeliner in their make-up kit and would have preferred if this pencil had come in a different colour. However, I do like multi-tasking products and this pencil doubles up as both an eyeliner and a shadow.

The Jelly Pong Pong pencil contains beeswax and has a creamy texture which applies fairly easily in one stroke if you are using it as an eyeliner. The point is rather thick though so it is better suited to thick smudgy sultry eyeliner looks than ones which require a precise thin line. The swatch image below shows the 2-in-1 Eyeliner applied on the left in one stroke, and then smudged with a cotton bud on the right to give more of an eyeshadow effect.

I’m not too sure I would want to use this pencil as an eyeshadow given that it is black, however it does come in 3 additional colours including plum which I think would make a better eyeshadow colour. Where this black pencil does come into it’s own though is to wear it under the eyes and then smudge it for a smokey look. You can see from the image below that I have applied the pencil as a thick eyeliner on my upper eyelid and then applied a little on the outer edge of my lower lid and smudged it with a cotton bud to frame the eye really nicely.

I have been pleasantly surprised by this 2-in-1 Eyeliner & Shadow from Jelly Pong Pong and I will be using it when I want a smoky, smudgy, sultry eye look. However I still think that it would have been great to receive it in a colour other than black.

UPDATE 1st Feb 2018 – sadly this eyeliner pencil has been discontinued which is a shame as I really love it for creating a smokey smudged line. My favourite black eyeliner is Urban Decay 24/7 Glide On Eye Pencil, available in loads of colours.
