Holika Holika – Petit BB Cream Aqua

I had so much interest in my recent Korean special beauty reviews (where I posted about new beauty products from Korea as part of an initiative with BNT News International) that I thought I would continue this theme. This Petit BB Cream from Korean beauty brand Holika Holika was recently recommended to me by another blogger on Twitter and I thought I’d try it out.
There are five different varieties of the Petit BB Cream – Clearing, Aqua, Bouncing, Moisturizing and Shimmering. I went for the Aqua as I have quite dehydrated skin and this one promises to add moisture back.
Each of the five varieties only comes in one shade which is a bit of a shame, but as with most BB creams as they’re quite light and sheer they do blend in with your own skintone – I just wouldn’t recommend any of them if you have dark skin or are very tanned.
Here you can see a swatch of the Aqua Petit BB Cream, it’s quite a creamy shade with a beige undertone. If I’m being entirely honest it’s probably one shade too pale for me during the Summer, but about the right tone for my paler Winter face!
I apply the Petit BB Cream with my fingers like I would with a tinted moisturiser and it gives a good coverage. It doesn’t give a plastic-y shiny finish like you get with some BB creams, it’s more like you would get with a sheer foundation, but I still like to add a dab of loose powder over the top to help set the cream and to stop any shine from occurring. You can also build up the coverage with your fingers to cover any light blemishes, although if you have any obvious marks or pigmentation on your skin then you’d need to use concealer.
I’m not too sure about the ingredients in this Holika Holika product as everything on the tube is in Korean! It has quite a strong fruity scent which could be a bit offputting – I prefer non-scented products – but as it’s such great value I can overlook this! It also contains SPF 25 which is great from a budget BB cream – all of the 5 varieties contain SPF, some stronger than others.
I really love this Aqua Petit BB Cream from Holika Holika and I’m really interested in trying out some of the other varieties too – perhaps the Sparkling one next. My previous favourite BB cream was Actively Correcting & Beautifying BB Cream from Kiehl’s, but this Korean offering is MUCH cheaper and just as good!
Holika Holika Petit BB Cream starts from around £3.50 on eBay, for 30ml.
