Weleda Calendula Shampoo and Body Wash Review

So I’m very careful about what I use on a regular basis on my skin, and I’m even more careful about what I use on my baby daughter. OK, so she’s not really a baby any more (she’s pretty much a toddler at 16 months old) but ever since she was born I’ve checked the ingredients of all the products that I’ve used in her bath. For a long time we exclusively used Burt’s Bees products from their Baby Bee range which are great for young skin, but now I’m starting to branch out and try other products.

I was sent this Calendula Shampoo & Body Wash from Weleda to try out, and the thing that got me most excited is that it doesn’t contain sodium laureth sulphate (SLS) which is the ingredient that causes a shampoo, shower gel or soap to lather. Instead of SLS this body wash uses coconut and sugar plant-based cleansers. SLS has always caused me a problem, making my skin dry and my scalp turn red and itchy, I avoid it like the plague! So when I learned that Calendula Shampoo & Body Wash is SLS free I knew that both myself and my daughter could use it, and only needing one tube frees up more space in the bathroom….. to make way for children’s bath toys!

Weleda Calendula Shampoo and Body Wash

Calendula Shampoo & Body Wash is a great SLS free shower gel, it’s a white cream with quite a strong herby scent. It can be used to wash hair as well as the body and I use it on my little one’s hair, although I prefer to use a shampoo for myself. The ingredients include Sweet Almond Oil which helps to nourish and moisturise the skin, and the lather is really creamy, it feels quite luxurious.

The 200ml tube is a good size and my daughter loves to point out the little red ladybird on the label. I’d definitely recommend Weleda Calendula Shampoo & Body Wash to anyone with young children or sensitive skin, it’s also recommended for those with mature skin which can be prone to dryness and sensitivity, plus it’s suitable for vegans. It is rumoured to be a fabulous make-up brush cleanser too (plus it’s cheaper than the custom designed products that do this!).

There are loads of other products in the Weleda Calendula range too, including Cream Bath, Nappy Change Cream and Baby Oil.

Calendula Shampoo & Body Wash is priced at £7.50 for 200ml, available from Weleda.
