Garnier – Moisture Match

A couple of weeks ago I was lucky enough to receive 3 small samples of Garnier’s Moisture Match moisturisers, a new range of moisturisers customised to meet specific skin needs. Basically Garnier have created five new colour coded moisturisers, each one with different benefits aimed at a different skin type.
I had requested the samples from Garnier’s website, and after answering a few questions about my skin they sent me the 3 samples which they thought would be best for my skin type (combination):
Shine Be Gone for oily to combination skin – Shine Be Gone, enriched with green tea extract, is oil free and helps to reduce the appearance of shine. It comes in a green tube and is a very pale mint green lotion with a light, fresh cucumber-y smell. It has a strange powdery texture, feels cooling and refreshing on the skin, and my face didn’t feel oily after applying which is good. I liked this lotion, but would have preferred if it was left uncoloured.
Protect & Glow for normal skin – Protect & Glow, enriched with lemon extract, contains SPF20 to help protect skin from the sun. It comes in a yellow tube and is a pale yellow lotion with little fragrance. I found that a little goes a long way with this moisturiser and my skin did feel a little oily after applying, but then parts of my combination skin are slightly oily anyway so I don’t feel that this one is right for my skin.
Wake Me Up for dull skin – Wake Me Up, enriched with citrus extract, is oil free and super quick to absorb keeping skin hydrated all day. It comes in an orange tube and is a slightly transparent gel with a lovely (but rather strong) fragrance. This moisturiser applied nicely to my skin and sank in quickly. I think this is my favourite out of the three and the one best suited to my skin.
As the samples were small I only tried each one for a couple of days (each sample provided around 3 applications) but I still got a good feel for each one. I like the Garnier brand and I think these are a great addition to it. My only negative comment would be that I would like to see all of the moisturisers containing SPF, not just the one for normal skin – all skin types need protection from the sun!
The other two moisturisers in the Moisture Match range are Start Afresh (for normal to dry skin) in a blue tube, and Goodbye Dry (for very dry skin) in a pink tube.
If you want to learn more about Moisture Match, or you would like to find out which of the five moisturisers is right for you, Garnier has a diagnostic quiz on their website.
Unfortunately Garnier are no longer offering free samples of Moisture Match, but if you head to Superdrug they are offering them for £2.98 each in their ‘up to half price’ sale. Garnier Moisture Match moisturisers are usually priced at £5.99 for 50ml.
