e.l.f. – Shimmering Facial Whip in Pink Lemonade

Another great value product from New York budget make-up brand e.l.f. (stands for Eyes Lips Face) today, this is Shimmering Facial Whip in Pink Lemonade.
I do have to say it is a VERY little tube, just 9.5g! It comes in a cardboard blister pack (pictured below) which I kind of like, it gives it an accessible ‘available to everyone’ kind of feel.
Shimmering Facial Whip is a fairly thick creamy lotion in a dark pink pearlised colour, and it is easy to squeeze just the right amount out of the nozzle on the little tube. This product can be used as a highlighter on eyes, lips or cheeks so is a true multi-tasking product.
Pink Lemonade is VERY pearlised so you only need a tiny amount to get a nice shimmer, and be sure to blend it really well particularly if using it on your cheeks so you don’t just end up with pearlised rosy round patches! It does give a lovely rosy glow on cheeks though, with a dewy finish.
On the swatch images below you can see what Shimmering Facial Whip looks like when it has first been applied to the skin, and then what it looks like when you start to blend it. As a highlighter it has a much thicker consistency than other similar products, for example High Beam from Benefit.
Personally I find it a bit too pearlised for use on the lips, you can see from the image below that the pearlised finish shows up every tiny line and wrinkle. It does however look good when just a TINY amount is dotted onto the middle of the bottom lip over another more matt lipstick, it gives the lips a lovely full pout.
I really love this little multi-tasking product, just remember not to use too much – less is more with this one! The only downside to this product is that it contains 2 different types of parabens, I would really like to see e.l.f. reformulate this Shimmering Facial Whip and remove the parabens.
UPDATE 30th Jan 2018 – Shimmering Facial Whip has been discontinued by e.l.f. but it has been replaced with an even better product, Highlighting Pearl Paint, available in 3 shades and priced at just £5.
