Dr. Lipp – Original Nipple Balm For Lips

Firstly, I just have to say that I hate the name of this product! It was originally formulated for breastfeeding women, which is where the name comes from, and contains 100% natural ingredients including lanolin. Original Nipple Balm For Lips probably isn’t a product that I would have purchased myself, it arrived in my September Glossybox, but I love natural products and I like the stylish grey and pink packaging so I was looking forward to trying it out.
This product is the very definition of ‘multi-tasking’ – not only can it be used on lips (and nipples!) but also on dry skin, cuticles and sunburn. It can also be used with your make-up, to add gloss to the eyelids, highlight cheek bones or neaten eyebrows.
You can see from the image above (apologies for the chipped paint job on the thumbnail!) how thick this balm is, I would describe it as more of a thick wax, and you only need a tiny bit for the lips. Personally I find it a bit too thick and sticky for everyday use as a lip balm, dense lip products like this often give me spots on my chin just under my bottom lip, but it’s excellent for chapped lips and I always apply this before long Winter walks in the snow. It’s also perfect for grazes and sore fingers – being a jewellery designer I often get sore fingers where I have accidentally filed my finger instead of a piece of metal – so this product is starting to get lots of use.
This sample-size tube is tiny, just 3ml, but it will last me a long time given that the balm is soooo thick and it just needs to be applied sparingly. I’d suggest it’s not only a skincare product, it’s also a beauty product (mix with powder make-up to create gloss) and a healthcare product too. I can’t think of another product that I’ve tried whilst blogging that covers so many bases!
UPDATE 31st July 2017 – I’ve been using this product for almost 4 years now and I have to say that it’s unbeatable! It solves just about any health and beauty dilemma and it’s perfect for cuts, grazes and sore skin. I can also confirm that it lives up to its name and works when breastfeeding too! Definitely a make-up bag staple, I love that it’s all natural and doesn’t contain any chemicals and I wouldn’t be without a tube.
Dr. Lipp Original Nipple Balm For Lips is priced at £12 for 15ml, available from Feel Unique.
