Clarins Sun Care Oil-Free Lotion Spray SPF15 Review

Relaxing in the sun and reviewing sunscreen….it’s a tough job but someone’s got to do it! I was recently sent this Sun Care Oil-Free Lotion Spray UVB/UVA 15 by Clarins, and although I have used Clarins skincare for years I have never tried any of their sun care products, so I was really looking forward to giving it a go.

This sun lotion offers medium protection for skin that tans easily, and although I am a natural blonde I am lucky enough to tan fairly easily as long as I am careful so this is a perfect product for me. If you have pale skin or are prone to burning then you would need to choose a product with a higher protection, Clarins have a good range going right up to SPF50.

This clear, transparent Oil-Free Lotion Spray spritzes directly onto the skin with a nice even, thin spray and it doesn’t need much rubbing in. Initially the lotion feels really smooth and silky on the skin but not at all greasy, and it dries really quickly leaving little trace of the product on the skin. It has a nice, gentle Summery scent that isn’t too overpowering. I have been using this sun protection product for a week or so now in the UK heatwave and have had no problems, it has done a great job of protecting my skin and I have had no sunburn at all.

I was a bit concerned to read that the ingredients of this Clarins Sun Care Oil-Free Lotion Spray include alcohol. Alcohol can dry the skin, and in my opinion is not something you want to be applying to your skin before you step out into the sun. I assume that the alcohol is what stops the lotion from feeling oily, and also what makes it dry quickly on the skin as the alcohol evaporates away after spritzing.

As the lotion contains alcohol is it not suitable for children, and I would also suggest that if you have sensitive skin you steer clear of this product too. Having said that it is really easy to apply and if you don’t like oily or greasy suncreams, or have particularly oily skin, then I think this could work well for you. Clarins also recommend this Oil-Free Lotion Spray as being particularly suitable for men and those that play outdoor sport.

Overall I really like Clarins Sun Care Oil-Free Lotion Spray, it is easy to apply and protects my skin from the sun but I would prefer to use a suncare product that doesn’t contain alcohol.

Sun Care Oil-Free Lotion Spray UVB/UVA 15 is priced at £18 for 150ml and is available from Clarins. This product is only available in SPF15, but if you prefer spray-on sun protection and have particularly pale or sensitive skin you might want to try Clarins Sun Care Milk Lotion Spray 50+ that gives very high protection from the sun’s rays.
