Clarins – Ombre Minerale Eye Shadows

I just had to get this review of Clarins Ombre Minerale Eye Shadows* in before Christmas, as these little jewels would make the perfect stocking filler gift. The cute palettes look like little bars of gold!
Ombre Minerale Eye Shadows contain mineral pigments and have been developed to deliver a smooth, long-lasting, intense colour and they can be applied dry or wet for a more intense colour.
The three shades I have been testing are Golden Rose, Platinum and Aubergine.
Golden Rose – this is a beautiful pale rose colour, it’s quite matt but with a very subtle golden shimmer undertone. It’s a good base colour that looks good applied all over the eye area before adding darker colours, and it works well paired with grey shadows.
Platinum – this dark grey shade looks quite sparkly in the palette but applies with only a subtle shimmer. However it is a lovely dark grey colour and looks great smudged into the eye socket or used wet as eyeliner.
Aubergine – this is a dark burgundy/brown matt shade. It’s a bit too red for my colouring and leaves me looking like I’ve got black eyes, but it would look great on someone with brown eyes paired with green or grey shadows.
All three of these Ombre Minerale Eye Shadows are really soft and apply really nicely and easily to the eye area. I love the fact that you can apply them wet and use them as eyeliner (just dampen an eyeliner brush, then apply as normal) for a really intense shot of colour. My favourite of the three shades is Platinum, although I would have liked to see a bit more sparkle from it, particularly as it is Christmas time! I do find that Clarins make-up shades are a bit ‘safe’ sometimes.
Ombre Minerale Eye Shadows are priced at £17 each, from Clarins.
