Clarins – After Sun Shimmer Oil

I hadn’t planned on publishing this review of Clarins After Sun Shimmer Oil* until next week, but given that I’ve been using it so much over the last few days of sunny weather I thought I’d get it written and live now! I’ve been spending lots of time sat out in the garden (carefully protecting my skin of course) and then applying this beautiful limited edition After Sun Shimmer Oil in an evening to soothe and nourish my skin.
It’s a lightweight oil that contains Hazelnut Oil, Vitamin E and essential oils of Mandarin, Grapefruit and Ylang Ylang. It helps to rehydrate and nourish the skin but doesn’t leave it feeling sticky or oily. Contained within the oil are fine flecks of golden iridescent shimmer – these settle to the bottom of the glass bottle when it has been left and you need to give it a good shake to evenly distribute the shimmer before applying:
I actually prefer using an oil aftersun to a cream product as I think it soothes the skin much more quickly and it doesn’t leave skin feeling sticky. Plus this one leaves skin with a beautiful subtle golden shimmer, it looks particularly effective on collar bones and calves where it catches the light and makes skin look luminous and glowing.
I’ve applied quite a thick swatch of Clarins After Sun Shimmer Oil to my wrist in the image above so you can clearly see the golden glow of the shimmer. Of course once you rub it in and blend it the shimmer is much more subtle.
After Sun Shimmer Oil is a limited edition product from Clarins, and has only been available since May 2015.
The heavy glass bottle makes the product feel really premium and it feels luxurious when you apply it. It comes packaged in a shaded orange and yellow cardboard box – a bit different to the usual crimson red Clarins boxes. Overall a great luxury product that really treats and nourishes the skin. I’m going to be using this all Summer long!
Clarins After Sun Shimmer Oil is priced at £32 for 100ml and is currently in stock at Clarins but I expect it to sell out soon. It’s currently sold out on a lot of other websites, but if you’re struggling why not have a look on EBay.
