How to make easy extra money online every month

How to make easy extra money online every month

As a beauty blogger I end up spending a lot of my disposable income on skincare and make-up…. plus haircare, nail polish, supplements, fragrance, the list goes on. All in the name of blogging, obvs! (Well, that’s what I like to tell myself.) Anyway, I like to supplement my monthly spending by making a bit of extra money on the side. As I have a toddler to look after I don’t have a lot of spare time, so these are all quick and easy methods of making money that you can do online in your own time. Prolific Academic Prolific Academic is a survey website, and it’s my favourite. It’s easy to earn £30 or more each month using Prolific Academic and unlike other survey sites it only shows you the surveys that you’re eligible for so you don’t spend ages answering questions only to find out you’ve been screened out. Some of the surveys take as little as 2 minutes, other takes slightly longer, but it tells...

Is this the most beautiful tablet case ever?

Is this the most beautiful tablet case ever?

As a beauty blogger I’m never far away from my iPad – drafting posts, researching products, reading other blogs, online shopping. You name it, my iPad helps me do it! Getting so much use means my trusty companion needs a good case so it’s protected from spills, drops and being sat on by cats. This stunning Saffiano Zip Gold Tablet Case from Filofax does just the trick. You’ve heard of Filofax right? Are you thinking 1990s suited city workers carrying round a lofty and rather overstuffed organiser? Well think again, Filofax now offers a range of smart and stylish tablet cases, portfolios, notebooks and bags. I’m so in love with it, the Saffiano Zip Gold Tablet Case has loads of cool hidden features. The tablet clicks into the hard plastic holder that is attached in the lower half of the case, and then it can swivel 360 degrees so you can have the iPad flat on the desk in front of you, or swivel it and then turn the case...

A personal post – why I’ve been AWOL

A personal post – why I’ve been AWOL

So regular readers of Beauty Best Friend will know that I don’t really do personal blog posts…. but you might have also noticed that my posts and reviews have been rather few and far between during the past couple of months. So I wanted to give a quick update on what’s currently happening with my life, why I’ve been rather absent and what the future holds for my blog: After a busy Summer of blogging in September 2015 I gave birth to a beautiful baby daughter. My husband and I were very well prepared and organised for her arrival but what I wasn’t prepared for was just how much time a young child takes up. In the early days I was able to write blog posts while she slept (which wasn’t very much during the day, but she did sleep well at night) but as she’s got older I’ve found it more and more difficult to find the time to write blog posts and more specifically to take the...

How to lose the baby weight with Slendertoxtea

How to lose the baby weight with Slendertoxtea

It’s now almost a year since I gave birth to my fantastic baby daughter (where does that time go?) and despite my best intentions to get back to my pre-pregnancy weight as quickly as possible it got to the Summer and I was still a good few pounds above where I wanted to be. I had put on about two stone whilst I was pregnant and about half of that disappeared when I gave birth. I continued to drop another few pounds in the first few weeks of motherhood – partly from breastfeeding and partly from a nasty kidney infection which floored me for a couple of weeks – but then came Christmas and I couldn’t resist indulging, particularly in alcohol which I’d been avoiding for nine months! So a few pounds crept back on and then despite a few attempts in 2016 to eat healthily I hovered around the same weight, feeling stuck. I needed something to give me a bit of a push in the right direction...

Best Friend Bargains!

Best Friend Bargains!

I’ve been thinking a lot about my blog name Beauty Best Friend recently. I chose the name as I wanted to be someone my readers could trust and confide in. I wanted to share my beauty tips and recommendations with my readers like I would with my best friends. So in my role as your new (Beauty) Best Friend each weekend I will be sharing a small selection of special beauty offers with my Facebook and Twitter followers, and calling them my Best Friend Bargains! I carried out a trial last weekend, sharing four fantastic make-up deals from Escentual. The offers were mainly half price make-up discounts and got lots of interest, particularly on Twitter. So keep an eye out on my Beauty Best Friend Facebook and Twitter pages over the coming weekends for some not-to-be-missed special offers. Sometimes the Best Friend Bargains will be all from one shop, sometimes I’ll mix it up a bit and they’ll be from different suppliers. I’ll promote a mixture of skincare, make-up, haircare products,...

How to design your blogger business cards

How to design your blogger business cards

“Hi, my name’s Laura and I’m a beauty blogger”… *hands out a business card* This has been me ever since I received these amazing business cards* from Aura Print last week! Over the past year I’ve been attending blogger events and handing out my own handmade business cards that I made using a heart stamp and coloured pens – creative and fun but not very professional. So when I was contacted by Aura Print to see if I wanted my very own high quality printed business cards I jumped at the chance. Aura Print is an online print specialist based in Huddersfield (not too far from me, I’m in York) and I love to work with local businesses whenever possible. As well as business cards they offer a huge range of flyers, stickers, PVC banners and other printed media. So if you’re a blogger and thinking of designing or ordering some business cards of your own what do you need to consider? You want your logo or some other...

Merry Christmas from Beauty Best Friend!

Merry Christmas from Beauty Best Friend!

I just wanted to take this opportunity to thank all of my readers and to wish you all a big Merry Christmas! I know I’m a few days early but I’m taking a couple of weeks break from blogging over the festive period. I gave birth to a beautiful baby girl in September, and whilst motherhood has actually been easier (so far!) than I expected it to be I still need a bit of time to recharge my batteries. Plus, I want to completely immerse myself in her first Christmas and spend lots of time with family and friends without having to think about where my next blog post is coming from! 2015 has been a very special year for me – I’ve become a mummy and my blog is becoming more and more popular. I hope that 2016 will be just as good! I’ll be back in the New Year with lots of new blog posts, product reviews and useful beauty tips. Until then, have a very Merry...

Valley Mill – Soy Wax Melts & Natural Soap

Valley Mill – Soy Wax Melts & Natural Soap

I love natural bodycare and room fragrance, and if it’s handmade in the UK then all the better! Valley Mill make a wide range of natural products in Wales and they also sell a selection of quality homeware products from other like-minded Welsh manufacturers. They sent me this Natural Soap* and a pack of their Natural Soy Wax Melts* to try out… Valley Mill Natural Soap with Grapefruit & Fennel – these soaps are made with 100% natural Shea Butter and Coconut Oil in Wales. I chose the Grapefruit & Fennel one as I thought it sounded lovely and zesty, there are 5 other variations including Orange & Cinnamon which would be great for Christmas time. The soap is very rustic looking with rough edges and blemished surface but this adds to the handmade charm. It’s made in a block of two colours – dark brown at the top and green on the bottom. I think it looks a bit like a huge piece of fudge! It has a...
