Unbeatable coral lipsticks for Summer from MAC

Unbeatable coral lipsticks for Summer from MAC

So I’ve not posted in a while, I’ve been so busy with other things and not had much time to dedicate to my blog. But rest assured I’m still here and I’ve been trying out lots of new make-up and skincare and today I’m going to tell you all about two of my new favourite MAC lipsticks. I’ve been tempted by coral and orange lipsticks before as I read that they compliment blue eyes, but the ones I’ve tried have always been far too bright and I’ve not felt comfortable wearing them. As a devoted pink-lipstick-lover even a hint of orange on my lips makes me feel quite self conscious. So with Summer on the way I felt it was time once and for all to find a coral lipstick that suited me and that I felt comfortable with. So I headed to my local MAC counter which happens to be in Fenwicks in York. I love the fact that MAC have so many shades and finishes available and...

Is Arbonne skincare really all that?

Is Arbonne skincare really all that?

So recently I was sent loads of samples of Arbonne products, a brand that I’ve been reading a lot about recently and I was very curious to know if it is really as great as people have been making out. Arbonne is a natural skincare and make-up brand from the US, their products are cruelty-free, vegan, and made using many natural ingredients. I was sent the skincare and make-up samples by Arbonne consultant Kate Mansell, who was keen to find out what I thought of the products. The samples were only tiny so I wasn’t able to use them for very long, but it has given me a great insight into the brand and their products. So, I’m sure you’re keen to know if Arbonne skincare really is all that! Read on to find out… First up I tried out a selection of skincare products from the Arbonne Calm range for sensitive skin and allergy sufferers:   Arbonne Calm Gentle Daily Cleanser This is a colourless clear light gel...

5 of the best… Beauty Books

5 of the best… Beauty Books

So this is the second in the series of my new feature called ‘5 of the best…’ where I do a quick review of my 5 favourite items in a specific category and explain why I like them and who each one would suit. My first review in the ‘5 of the best’ series was Hot Cloth Cleansers, did you read it? Today I’m going to be looking at books about beauty, I’m a bit of a bookworm and I love reading about all things beauty, especially books about natural beauty products or those with step-by-step guides and tutorials. I’ve read so many over the years so I’m going to narrow it down to my top 5.   5 of the best… Beauty Books     Easy On The Eyes by Lisa Potter-Dixon Easy On The Eyes is a fabulous book released a couple of years ago, written by Benefit Head Make-up & Trend Artist and all-round beauty guru Lisa Potter-Dixon. It is an eye make-up manual that shows...

The Body Shop Autumn Blogger Event 2017

The Body Shop Autumn Blogger Event 2017

So a couple of weeks ago I was lucky enough to be invited to The Body Shop® blogger event at my local store in Coppergate, York. It had been organised by blogger Indigo Rosee, in collaboration with the store. The evening had been set up to showcase the new limited edition Christmas make-up collection and also promote the huge sale that the store had on. There were some amazing deals! We were welcomed with prosecco and nibbles and then had a few minutes to browse the store and take some photos. I received a great demonstration of the new make-up products which includes a funky black eyeliner pen with a star stamp on one end which EVERYONE tried out! I always really love The Body Shop® Christmas make-up collections, and I think it’s a shame that it’s a brand that is sometimes forgotten when it comes to make-up. Then everyone was treated to a hand spa and massage using some of the Spa Of The World products. They’re truly luxurious,...

The best value make-up brushes around?

The best value make-up brushes around?

I’m a sucker for make-up brushes, I have jars full of them on my dressing table and still I can’t resist more! Particularly when they’re cruelty free, vegan friendly, handcrafted from 100% ethically sourced materials and OH so soft like this Face Brush Kit from So Eco. You may have seen the comparison I wrote last year between So Eco Blush Brush and another similar brush, and ever since I’ve been hooked on So Eco brushes. They really are so amazingly soft and beautiful and I think that the bamboo handles look so natural and pretty. The Face Brush Kit contains four brushes, from left to right in the photo above they are: Round Foundation Brush A smallish face brush with a highly domed head, personally I use this brush to contour rather than to apply my foundation. This brush reminds me very much of the Sigma F35 Tapered Highlighter brush which has something of a cult following, and it gets into any nooks and crannies, like the corners of the...

Introducing JK Mineral Make-Up

Introducing JK Mineral Make-Up

I adore mineral make-up. I like knowing that my make-up doesn’t contain lots of nasty chemicals, I like the feel of it on my skin, I like that it doesn’t clog my pores. So when I heard about a new brand of mineral make-up I was very much looking forward to trying it out. If you haven’t heard of mineral make-up before it’s made up of natural minerals such as zinc, talc and iron oxides, elements that occur naturally within the world. These minerals are ground down into tiny particles to create powder make-up, and they don’t require any nasty preservatives, perfumes or dyes. Mineral make-up is very quickly growing in popularity and it’s thought to be very good for acne and sensitive skin as it doesn’t clog the pores like regular make-up can. JK Mineral Makeup is a new make-up range developed in the UK by Jody Knight, an elite permanent make-up artist. Jody uses permanent cosmetic treatments such as medical tattooing to help mask scars and create new...

Embryolisse Complexion Correcting Care SPF20

Embryolisse Complexion Correcting Care SPF20

I very rarely wear foundation, it’s usually only reserved for a very occasional big night out as I don’t like the way it makes my skin feel – all caked on, thick and leaving my skin struggling to breathe. My preferred go-to bases include tinted moisturisers, mineral powders and CC creams, products that are light and airy, giving sufficient coverage but letting some of my skin’s natural ‘personality’ shine through. In addition they’re usually quick and easy to apply, and I don’t have a lot of time in the morning. I’ve been trying out a CC Cream from cult brand Embryolisse, which aims to improve and treat skin whilst you’re wearing it. Complexion Correcting Care SPF20 includes Hyaluronic Acid which re-plumps skin and Biosaccharide which is an anti-ageing ingredient, plus the cream is suitable for vegans. In addition, as the name suggests, it contains SPF20 to help protect skin from the sun’s damaging rays during the day, which is really important during Winter as well as Summer. Complexion Correcting Care SPF20 is...
