Neal’s Yard Remedies – Mothers Bath Oil

Neal’s Yard Remedies – Mothers Bath Oil

Well here I am, back at my blog! I had a lovely break over Christmas and New Year and it was made all the more special by it being my baby girl’s first Christmas. But as ever the festive period whizzed by far too fast and we’re now well into the first week in January. For me January is about pampering and detoxing, and thinking about all the possibilities that the year ahead has in store. If pampering’s your thing too then look no further than Mothers Bath Oil from Neal’s Yard Remedies. I was given this by a friend after I gave birth to my daughter last September and it’s become a staple in my bathroom. Made from only organic ingredients it can safely be used during pregnancy, after the birth and then as your child gets older when you feel a bit ‘frazzled’! Of course you don’t have to be a mother to use it, everyone needs relaxation! The main ingredients are organic Olive, Apricot and Almond...

Christmas treats from Roger & Gallet

Christmas treats from Roger & Gallet

Well, it’s December so we’re officially allowed to think about Christmas! And when we think about Christmas we have to talk about one of the brands that does gifts so well – Roger & Gallet. I’ve reviewed several of their products in the past, in particular their fragrances and hand creams, and they all make perfect gifts as their packaging is so beautiful. Today I’m reviewing two items from the Bois d’Orange fragrance collection: Bois d’Orange Eau Fraiche Parfumee* – I’d expected this Fragrant Water to smell really fruity and orangey but it doesn’t. The scent is supposed to encompass the leaves, flowers and wood of the orange tree as well as the fruit, so it’s more woody and musky than just an orange fragrance. I think it smells quite classic and traditional. The scent is quite light as this is a fragrant water rather than a perfume, and it’s unisex so suitable for both men and women. The smooth glass bottle with its yellow and gold label doesn’t...

Sweet treats from Patisserie De Bain

Sweet treats from Patisserie De Bain

How tempting does this selection of sweet treats from Patisserie de Bain look!? Patisserie de Bain (translated from French as ‘confectionery for the bath’) is a new brand from Rose & Co – a traditional British apothecary in the Yorkshire village of Haworth. Each piece is lovingly handmade in the UK from ingredients such as shea butter and almond oil and finished off with traditional English floral fragrances. I was lucky enough to receive this hamper full of pretty Patisserie de Bain bath goodies* to try out, plus a selection of scented handcreams which I’ll talk about later in the post. The first thing to strike me was the packaging, the pale pastel colours and doily decorations really make the products look like something you’d find in a sweet shop. Plus the products themselves look good enough to eat! Particularly this Cranberries & Cream Cupcake Soap, I think it looks like a real cake and with a warm berry fragrance it’s perfect for Winter. Actually this might be too pretty to...

The Body Shop Christmas Blog Event

The Body Shop Christmas Blog Event

A week last Friday I was lucky enough to attend The Body Shop Christmas Blogger Event at my local store in Coppergate, York. There are few brands do Christmas as full-on as The Body Shop and their festive fragrances are amazing so I was looking forward to getting into the Christmas spirit and trying out some new products. We were welcomed into the store with a glass of bubbly and a festive cupcake, then the Store Manager started off by giving us a quick overview of how the evening would run and then told us about this year’s three Christmas fragrances – Frosted Plum, Frosted Cranberry and Glazed Apple. We were then split into two groups and given a tour of the latest new products from The Body Shop. The first range we looked at was the new Oils Of Life, I already reviewed these skincare products here when they launched. Next up we got to try out some of the new Christmas make-up. I think people often forget that The Body Shop...

Valley Mill – Soy Wax Melts & Natural Soap

Valley Mill – Soy Wax Melts & Natural Soap

I love natural bodycare and room fragrance, and if it’s handmade in the UK then all the better! Valley Mill make a wide range of natural products in Wales and they also sell a selection of quality homeware products from other like-minded Welsh manufacturers. They sent me this Natural Soap* and a pack of their Natural Soy Wax Melts* to try out… Valley Mill Natural Soap with Grapefruit & Fennel – these soaps are made with 100% natural Shea Butter and Coconut Oil in Wales. I chose the Grapefruit & Fennel one as I thought it sounded lovely and zesty, there are 5 other variations including Orange & Cinnamon which would be great for Christmas time. The soap is very rustic looking with rough edges and blemished surface but this adds to the handmade charm. It’s made in a block of two colours – dark brown at the top and green on the bottom. I think it looks a bit like a huge piece of fudge! It has a...

AcuRegen – Rose Body Oil

AcuRegen – Rose Body Oil

AcuRegen are a range of clinics that practice acupuncture and Chinese herbal medicine, and they have recently developed a new range of natural body oils. The oils come in three varieties – Rose, Jasmine and Lavender – I was sent the Rose one to try out. Rose Body Oil is made up from various natural oils including Grape Seed Oil and Peach Kernel Oil. It then has Rose, Geranium and Frankincense essential oils added which, amongst other benefits, help to support circulation and boost the immune system. This was an excellent choice for me as I gave birth to a baby girl in September and since then had been feeling a bit run down and had a couple of minor illnesses, so wanted to give my immune system a good kick-start! The oil has a really nice gentle fragrance of rose – I know some people think the scent of rose is a bit old fashioned, but I think this smells really pretty. The oil also has a good...

Look after yourself with Kneipp

Look after yourself with Kneipp

I’m a real advocate of natural skincare and products that use herbs and organic ingredients as I believe that they’re better for your skin than artificial chemicals. I first came across Kneipp in Summer last year when I tried out their Stress Free Herbal Bath. Kneipp is a US brand, set up by naturopath Sebastian Kneipp in 1891 and all of their products are based around natural oils. I was recently sent a selection of their products to try out, this included Balancing Lavender Herbal Bath* which I’ve wanted to try for ages, and two of the new Kneipp Sparkling Bath Tablets*. This is a mini travel size 20ml bottle of the beautiful relaxing Balancing Herbal Bath, it contains Lavender Essential Oil and smells beautiful! You just pour it under running water and let it infuse into your bath before getting in for a soak. It’s quite a dark blue/purple colour and will colour your bath too, but don’t worry it doesn’t dye the skin! A small 20ml bottle like...
