Burts Bees Lip Crayons Review

If you’re a regular reader of Beauty Best Friend then you’ll know that I’m a huge fan of Burt’s Bees. I like everything that they stand for, their beeswax lip balms are second to none and I use their natural Baby Bee range on my little girl. Over the past few years they’ve progressed their lip products and now offer a range of lip colour items – their Lip Shimmer in Guava was one of the first products that I ever reviewed on my blog!

Burt’s Bees Lip Crayons* are a range of 6 lip colour crayons made from 100% natural ingredients. They are infused with Shea Butter, Kendi Oil, and Jojoba Oil, and of course they include beeswax too.

The chunky crayon format is one that I like but feels a bit different from the other Burt’s Bees lip products of the past. It makes the colour easy to apply, although I recommend using a lip liner first if you want a really defined lip as it can be tricky getting this effect from a lip crayon.

The colour feels really creamy and balmy as it’s applied, but it gives quite a matt effect once it’s on the lip. I usually prefer a more glossy lip but as the colour is quite subtle I don’t mind the matt finish too much, plus it stays put on the lips forever. I also like the fact that there’s no flavour or scent, so many lipsticks these days are brimming with a plastic-y vanilla or fruity flavouring which isn’t really needed if you ask me.

Burts Bees Lip Crayons Swatch

The two crayons that I was sent to try were in the shades Sedona Sands and Carolina Coast. In the swatch image above Sedona Sands is on the left, and Carolina Coast is on the right.

Carolina Coast

As you can see from the images above Sedona Sands is a neutral brown shade with an orangey touch. Carolina Coast is a raspberry pink shade, just the sort of colour that I wear all the time – although I’ve been to North Carolina and I don’t remember the coast being this colour!

I really love the honeycomb texture print on the clear lids, a really cute finishing touch I think! What are your favourite Burt’s Bees products?

Lip Crayons are priced at £8.99 each, available from Burt’s Bees.

  1. I haven’t actually tried the Burts Bees range before, never really seen it around. I’ve heard good things about this range though! I think I’ve got so used to bold opaque lipsticks lately I forgot what sheer tones are like. These will be amazing for the warm weather x

    • It’s definitely a range you should investigate, the products are easily available online. xx

  2. These look really comfortable on the lips. The colors are subtle but these seem like a good lip product to use when going for a minimal look.

    • Really comfortable, and can add gloss over the top if wanting a more shiny finish. xx

  3. I have one of these, a deep red shade and I wear it all the time. It’s quite long-lasting too!

  4. Pretty post, I love Burt’s Bees too! I have never tried any of their makeup products although I’m a fan of the mango lip balm. Plus its 100% natural which is totally awesome. I like matt lip crayons in general, Sedona Sands looks lovely! 🙂 xx
