Botanicals – Nourishing Face Balm

Regular readers of Beauty Best Friend will know that I enjoy using natural and organic skincare, so I was overjoyed when I was chosen to review this Nourishing Face Balm* from natural organic skincare brand Botanicals.
Botanicals say their aim is ‘to provide a range of personal care products which are as close to nature as possible’ and their products are approved by the Soil Association, are suitable for vegans and are never tested on animals. All of Botanicals’ products are blended by hand in rural England and contain no no petrochemicals or synthetic additives.
Nourishing Face Balm is a deeply conditioning natural balm containing 89% organic ingredients. It is infused with wild rose and rose geranium, renowned for their nourishing and revitalising properties. The scent of the rose really comes through, it smells very heavenly. The texture of this product is a little odd, it feels very granulated when you first scoop a bit out on your fingers – a bit like it contains sugar – but the granules quickly melt away on your hands leaving a super-moisturising waxy balm. (Apparently the granulated texture is totally normal and due to the high amount of shea butter in the balm).
I have been applying Nourishing Face Balm to my skin at night 2-3 times a week or whenever my skin feels particularly dry. I have combination skin so using it every evening would be too much, but last night we’d been out in the cold weather to watch a firework display and when I got home my forehead and nose were feeling particularly dry and a bit stingy – a quick application of this product before bed really soothed my skin. It’s like a drink for the skin!
It does feel a bit slimy and oily on the skin as soon as you’ve applied it, but it soaks in really well overnight and leaves skin feeling really smooth, plump and hydrated when you wake up in the morning. I’d recommend avoiding the delicate eye area though, this balm is extremely rich and could overload the skin around the eyes leaving them looking puffy.
I love everything about this Botanicals product, particularly the packaging. The dark glass jar is set off nicely by the bright pink label – it’s everything a natural product should be.
The balm feels rich and luxurious when you apply it to the skin and the floral scent is amazing, this has to be one of the best skincare products I have tried this year. I would definitely love to try out more of Botanicals’ skincare if this Nourishing Face Balm is anything to go by!
Nourishing Face Balm is usually priced at £27.95 for 50g, available from Botanicals. However if you order between 1st and 30th November Botanicals are offering £5 off every pot of Nourishing Face Balm – just use code ‘NOVOFFER’ when you checkout.
