Blue Sparkle & Nude Nails

I created this Blue Sparkle & Nude nail look using one of my favourite nail polishes and a brand new one. Barry M’s Gelly Nail Paint in Lychee is a nail polish that I love and I use it over and over again, both on it’s own which looks really classy or incorporated in nail art and I have used it here as the nude base underneath the blue sparkly tips. The glittery blue polish is part of the Essence Effect Nail Polish* range and it’s called ‘Party In A Bottle’ which I think is a fun name.
If you’ve not heard of Essence before this is because they’ve only recently launched in the UK, you might want to have a read of my post about the UK launch of Essence make-up to find out more.
First I painted 2 coats of the Barry M Gelly Nail Paint in Lychee over my nails and left to dry. It works really well as a base colour underneath glitters and nail art as it’s nude and doesn’t detract from sparkle or bright colours.
Then I painted a coat of the Essence Effect Nail Polish in Party In A Bottle over the top about halfway down each nail. After this coat had dried I painted another coat of the Barry M, this time only about one third of the way down each nail, this way it gives a gentle graded effect to the glitter.
I didn’t bother with a clear top coat as I didn’t feel it really needed it, but if you don’t like the glitter feeling rough then you could add a quick coat over the top and it helps give a lovely sheen.
I really like the Essence glitter polish, the glitter is quite dense unlike some other glitter polishes I’ve tried in the past, and the glitter is really bright and vibrant. I think it does look best over another colour otherwise you would need quite a lot of coats of it to get a dense glitter finish. The brush is quite short so you need to apply it very carefully and you do need to apply it quite thinly or I found it goes a bit blobby.

Very pretty look. I like the pairing which I’d probably never think to do. I really need to do my nails. I’ve never tried the Barry M but always hear such great things about the formula. 🙂

Ooo, very ‘Frozen’ inspired. I love these kind of manicures. I usually do something quite similar, but never using these colours. The glitter polish is gorgeous! xxx
