Benefit It's Potent Eye Cream Review

I absolutely love Benefit make-up, I think they’ve got some great products – many of them with unique selling points – and I love their quirky packaging and tongue-in-cheek marketing. But up until recently I’d never tried their skincare range. My first foray was this It’s Potent! Eye Cream, which claims to fade dark circles and smooth fine lines. My little pot was a sample size that I received in a beauty box last year.

The product itself is a scent-free pale caramel coloured light cream, it reminds me a bit of a caramel sauce or brandy butter! The ingredients include loquat extract, known to help protect the skin from free radical damage.

I’ve been using It’s Potent! Eye Cream at night after moisturising since the end of November, just patting a little of the product under each eye using my ring finger. It does feel nice and moisturising on the under-eye area, but as you can see from the before and after images below I don’t really think it’s made much difference to my skin tone…. Having said that, I don’t really suffer too badly from dark circles under the eyes anyway.

Benefit It's Potent Eye Cream Before & After

Personally I think that as Benefit do make-up so well they should have probably stuck to that, instead of branching out into a skincare range. I love the quirky 1950s packaging of the skincare, but Benefit is probably not a brand I would usually choose to look at when I’m wanting a product for my skin. I’m also not really keen on the name ‘It’s Potent!’ – when looking for a product to use around my eyes I want something natural and gentle, not potent! I know it’s just a name, but it does put me off a bit.

Benefit’s skincare collection also includes cleansers, moisturisers and serums all in retro pale turquoise packaging.

It’s Potent is priced at £25.50 for 14.2g, available from Benefit Cosmetics.

  1. oh i do love benefit and this range has started to become very popular ive noticed lately x

  2. I haven’t tried any of Benefit’s skincare range. Yeah the before and after photo look almost identical but as you said you don’t have any dark circles to battle with haha! I find Benefit so expensive though and their products don’t last me long enough. Except my high beam , that’s still going strong 5 years later!
