Benefit Girl Meets Pearl Product Review

Benefit decsribes Girl Meets Pearl as ‘liquid pearl for the face’, it’s basically a liquid highlighter that can be used on cheeks or all over the face for a dewy glow. I love Benefit products, their packaging and product names are really quirky and they develop such innovative products, not to mention their amazing handbag-sized boxed collections of their best-sellers.

Girl Meets Pearl can be worn on its own to give a delicate luminous pearlessence, or it can be worn over make-up for a subtle dewy glow. To dispense the product just remove the lid then twist the end of the tube and the product comes up through the little holes at the end of tube – then pat it gently onto your skin with your fingers. You should only dispense a little at a time as less is most definitely more with this product – you don’t want to end up with a face like a shiny oil slick!

I like to wear Girl Meets Pearl over my make-up to highlight my cheekbones – I just pat a little of the highlighter very gently all over my cheekbones with the pads of my fingers, in order to make sure it doesn’t remove any of the foundation underneath. It’s important to apply the highlighter little by little as you can always apply some more, but it’s difficult to remove if you put too much on – and you don’t want to overdo it.

The swatch image below clearly shows the lovely peachy-pink shimmer of Benefit’s Girl Meets Pearl. I applied it quite thickly for the photo so it showed up clearly, but would normally pat a much thinner layer onto my face so that it just catches the light. You could also use a tiny amount under the browbone as a highlighter, or on the temples.

Girl Meets Pearl is a really great highlighter and one tube lasts for ages. My only negative comment about Girl Meets Pearl is that it contains 4 different types of paraben within its ingredients. At a time when natural products are becoming more popular and many brands are removing potentially dangerous chemicals and preservatives from their cosmetics, I would like to see Benefit revisit their ingredients and start to remove some of the dubious ones.

Girl Meets Pearl is priced at £24.50 for 12ml and is available from Benefit Cosmetics. Keep an eye on the Benefit website as they often offer free gifts or shipping, and choose 2 free samples with every order.

    • It’s definitely worth buying a full size tube as it lasts for ages. Xx

  1. I have this and love it but ugh the parabens x

    • I know, it would be good to see those replaced with something more natural. Xx
