Avojo – The Black Peel Off Mask

I was recently invited to try out and review The Black Peel Off Mask* from Danish skincare brand Avojo. This mask has been developed to help reduce the production of excess oil and dead skin cells, in order to prevent blackheads and breakouts and keep the skin looking clear.
The Black Peel Off Mask is a unisex product for use on the T-zone (nose, forehead and chin) but should be kept well away from the eye area. The mask dries and after 25-30 minutes it can then be peeled off. Avojo recommend using the mask 1-2 times a week, and there is plenty of product in one sachet.
I tried out The Black Peel Off Mask yesterday morning. The first thing that I noticed was the strong alcoholic smell as I was applying the mask, it really made my eyes water – I think the alcohol evaporating is what makes the mask dry out so quickly. After leaving the mask to do its thing for 30 minutes I removed it. It took a while to peel off, coming off in little pieces rather than in one large sheet, but I think maybe I hadn’t applied it thickly enough. I was left with a few black smudges on my face afterwards but these wiped off easily with a damp facecloth. After removing the mask my skin was left feeling soft and looking clear, I was fairly pleased with the results. Yesterday evening when removing my make-up before bed my skin did feel a bit stingy and sore (I think this was the delayed effects of the alcohol that had dried my skin out a bit) so I applied plenty of moisturiser to calm my skin down.
Overall I really like this mask, although I wouldn’t recommend it if you have sensitive or dry skin because of the high alcohol content. I will definitely be using the mask again (applying it a bit more thickly next time) but will be applying a thick moisturising cream afterwards to prevent my skin from drying out.
I like the simple packaging and I think it will appeal to men as well as women.
Prices start at £3 for one sachet, from Avojo.
