You’d be forgiven if you haven’t heard of Aurelia Probiotic Skincare before, I only heard of them a few months back and I’ve been reading some really good reviews of their products. Their philosophy is all around using ethically sourced 100% BioOrganic botanical formulations to prevent skin ageing, and their products are free from a number of ingredients that we are starting to think of as potentially harmful – including synthetic fragrances, colorants, parabens, mineral oils, silicones, sulphates, propylene glycol and phthalates.
Aurelia Probiotic Skincare is also cruelty free and carries the ‘Leaping Bunny’ mark.
I was sent a boxful of goodies from Aurelia to try out and the first thing that struck me was their packaging, it felt like unwrapping a really special gift wrapped in black tissue paper, tied with ribbon and nestled inside a black gift box. I was sent a full size of the popular Refine & Polish Miracle Balm, plus a sample of 3 other products that were housed inside little dark bottles and tied inside a black velvet pouch.
The attention to detail within the packaging made me think that I was in for a really luxurious treat…
Aurelia Refine & Polish Miracle Balm is a new product that uses enzymes as an exfoliant to brighten dull complexions. It can be used in two ways – like a scrub to exfoliate the skin, or as a mask to give skin an extra boost.
The product itself is a milky coloured gel that contains tiny exfoliating grains. It has a really nice spicy menthol scent and it’s refreshing to try a product that doesn’t smell floral or fruity!
To use Refine & Polish Miracle Balm as a face scrub you massage it into the skin using circular motions like a regular scrub, it feels like silk it’s very luxurious. Then you just rinse it off using lukewarm water and it turns milky – I actually like to use a muslin cloth to remove it as I think that my face feels cleaner that way.
To use Refine & Polish Miracle Balm as a mask you apply a layer to clean dry skin using dry fingers then leave it for 5 minutes to do its thing. It can start to make the skin feel slightly warm as the enzymes start to activate. Again you can rinse it off using water, or remove using a muslin cloth. After removing the mask my skin feels really plumped and soft and any dry patches are gone.
The ingredients include essential oils of Chamomile, Eucalyptus (this is what gives it the menthol scent), Rosemary and Bergamot, and it also includes Hibiscus extract which is known as ‘nature’s botox’!
This is a beautifully luxurious product and it feels like such a treat to use it. It is quite expensive but I like the fact that you can use it in two ways so it feels a bit more like you’re getting your money’s worth! My skin feels so great after using this and a little goes a long way so although it’s not cheap this tube will last me for ages.
The other three mini-samples that I received all look really cute in their dark brown glass jars!
Aurelia Revitalise & Glow Serum is an anti-ageing serum that includes essential oils of Jasmine and Mandarin. It’s white and milky in colour and very runny, you only need 2-3 drops to cover your face so this little bottle will last me quite a while! It has a soft floral fragrance that comes from the essential oils. Obviously I’ve not been using it long enough to comment on the anti-ageing effects of it, but it’s very pleasant to use and my skin feels soft and nourished when I wake up in a morning after I’ve applied it the night before.
Aurelia Cell Revitalise Rose Mask is a luxurious cream mask that contains Damask Rose extract and it smells beautiful! It’s soothing and calming and helps to reduce redness or inflammation and also hydrates dull or dehydrated skin. I’ve only tried it once so far but I really liked it, I didn’t really feel any instant benefit to my skin after using it, but the next morning my skin felt soft and plump and my skintone looked nice and even.
Aurelia Cell Revitalise Day Moisturiser is a thick whipped moisturiser that also includes essential oils of Jasmine and Mandarin. It’s a little too rich for the more oily areas of my combination skin such as my chin and nose, but it works wonders on my forehead and cheeks and my usually blemished skin has been clear since I started using it. This Day Moisturiser has been developed for those with dull or dehydrated skin and contains Borage Oil which locks in moisture. There is also a night version of this moisturiser too.
I’ve been really impressed with all of the 4 products I’ve tried from Aurelia Probiotic Skincare, the quality and packaging is second to none and they all feel really luxurious to use. I can’t comment on the anti-ageing properties as I’ve not been using them long enough but I love the fact that they contain natural ingredients and are cruelty free. They’re not cheap products, but they are great quality and you can be safe in the knowledge that you’re not putting any ingredients or chemicals on your skin that aren’t benefitting it.
