Good hair day every day Alchemy Grapefruit Hair Remedy

I’ve been raving about this Grapefruit Hair Remedy from Alchemy Oils on Twitter for days now, this is an all natural product that helps nourish and condition your hair. The Grapefruit Hair Remedy is a blend of 5 natural oils – Coconut, Avocado, Almond, Castor oils which all work to promote growth, thicken hair and add a lustrous shine, plus citrusy Grapefruit oil which fights dandruff and helps keep the scalp healthy.

I have thick wavy blonde hair which can get quite dry and frizzy due to over-straightening, so I like to treat it every now and again to some kind of treatment. This one sounded perfect as it only contains natural ingredients. You shouldn’t be scared of using oils, they’re great for every bit of your body and I love to use an oil on my face too, you can read all about one of my favourites here.

Alchemy Grapefruit Hair Remedy Ingredients

As you can see from the ingredients list above there’s nothing else added to this hair oil, and therefore it contains no parabens, sulphates or other chemicals. The scent of the grapefruit oil really comes through, and it smells lovely and citrusy (I love anything with a fruity scent).

The oil should be applied to dry hair and scalp and then thoroughly massaged in before leaving for around 20 minutes (or you can even leave it overnight if you want a really intense treatment) then hair should be well shampooed to remove the oil. You can also use a couple of drops of the Grapefruit Hair Remedy on damp hair to prevent flyaway ends, just use like you would a serum, rub the oil between your palms then smooth onto the ends of the hair before drying as normal.

I have real problems with an itchy scalp (originally caused by using shampoo containing sulphates) so I was unsure at first whether or not this hair oil would irritate my scalp or not, but if anything it’s actually helped to soothe it – that’s why I love anything that’s all-natural.

(UPDATE 28th August 2017 – my problems with an itchy scalp are now all but gone, thanks to this amazing shampoo that I’ve discovered!)

I have been using Alchemy Grapefruit Hair Remedy in conjunction with my Save The Blow Dry shower cap, which helps protect the hair when using an oil treatment, and it leaves my hair so silky soft and manageable – I’m sure my hair also dries quicker after I’ve used it too, or that might just be in my imagination! I would recommend using Alchemy Grapefruit Hair Remedy as a hair treatment once every 2 or 3 weeks, and it will be extra beneficial in cold windy weather when hair really gets a beating.

Alchemy Grapefruit Hair Remedy Review

I love this multi-use hair treatment and my hair has been so silky and soft since I started using it. The only downside of the oil is that it can be a bit messy to apply, I would recommend putting a towel over your shoulders to catch any oily drips and leaning over a sink when you are massaging it into the hair. I thought it might have needed extra shampooing to fully remove the oil from the hair, but it shampoos out really easily and there is no oily residue left after conditioning and rinsing.

I don’t use a lot of fancy hair products and try to stick to natural ones where possible, but this Alchemy Grapefruit Hair Remedy doesn’t disappoint and I would really recommend it. Every day is now a good hair day with Alchemy!

Grapefruit Hair Remedy is priced at £24 for 100ml, available from Alchemy Oils.

Alchemy also offer an Earl Grey Beard Remedy at £21 if your fella fancies a good beard day!
