To help celebrate the launch of 2True Cosmetics’ new UK website they sent me this collection of make-up goodies to try out. I’d never heard of the brand before, but found out that they are a budget brand whose products are available at Superdrug (sadly not my local store). With prices starting at £1.99 for a nail polish or a black mascara their competition are other budget brands such as Makeup Revolution, W7 and MUA.
I was sent a total of 9 make-up products and I’ve been using them for the past couple of weeks, and I have to say that I’m really impressed so far…
2True Fast Dry Colour Quick Nail Polish* – I’m going to start off talking about these cute nail polishes as I think they’re great. Shade 21 is a bright peppermint green and Shade 23 is a pastel blue and they go so well together as you can see from the image below:
The brushes inside the bottles are flat making it easy to apply the polish to each nail in just 3 or 4 strokes (similar to the brush you get in an Essie polish). The polish dries fairly quickly too, I painted my nails in a bit of a rush and in just a few minutes I was getting on with other things.
The blue polish is quite runny though and you’d probably need 3 coats to get a good opaque coverage, but the green one is fine and it looks AMAZING with a tan too!
The bottles are only quite small, but contain 7ml of polish which is enough to last for a few months, and at just £1.99 each you can afford to collect lots of colours!
2True Wow Volume Mascara, Expert Eyebrow Pencil & Pro Tech Extreme Eyeliner* – the next products I want to talk about is this collection of eye make-up items.
I didn’t have particularly high hopes for the Wow Volume Mascara with it only costing £2.99 but I’ve been really impressed with it. I think its success is all down to the brush which is thin with short plastic bristles and makes it easy to manoeuvre particularly when coating the bottom lashes.
The colour is a very intense black – unfortunately you notice this most when removing your eye make-up and it can take a bit of gentle rubbing to get it all off from around your eyes.
It definitely thickens the lashes and gives them a nice even coating without clumping. Also, it doesn’t smudge under my eyes which many formulations of mascara tend to do (including lots of expensive premium ones) so I’m giving this mascara the thumbs up!
I’m really impressed with the Expert Eyebrow Pencil in Shade 1 too, it’s a dark brown colour, much darker than it looks like it’s going to be. The nib is nice and hard making it easy to fill in any gaps between the eyebrow hairs, it works best when it’s fairly sharp.
Have a look at the image below to see a before and after of my eyebrows when using the 2True Expert Eyebrow Pencil:
The pencil doesn’t smudge either and stays put throughout the day. It costs just £1.99 again it gets the thumbs up from me – I’ve got quite a collection of eyebrow pencils, some quite expensive ones, and this is one of the better ones.
I haven’t tried out the Pro Tech Extreme Eyeliner yet, this is a liquid eyeliner pen from the 2True Pro range so it’s a little bit more expensive than the other products at £4.49. I’m not a regular user of liquid eyeliners as I find it difficult to get both eyes the same, but I will definitely be trying this out soon.
2True All Over Natural Bronzing Powder & Wow Gloss For Lips* – next up is the All Over Natural Bronzing Powder, a steal at just £2.29. It’s a pressed bronzer with tiny gold flecks in it, it’s a little bit too orange for me and you only need to apply a tiny swoosh of it with a very big brush otherwise you can end up looking like you’ve been tango-ed.
The Wow Gloss for Lips Pencil is really great, I had imagined it would be more like a gloss as it comes in crayon form (I was thinking Clinique Chubby Sticks) but it’s actually quite an intense opaque lipstick in pencil form. I was sent shade 5 ‘Powerful Pout’ which is a bright, intense crimson red. This is a colour that I usually try to avoid but in the interests of blogging I tried it out last week and I received some nice compliments on it.
Here’s what it looked like:
I’m not sure I have the confidence to pull off this sort of red lipstick every day, but I certainly enjoyed wearing it for a few hours. You do need to apply it very carefully as any slips or smudges clearly show up, but it feels very nourishing and soft on the lips, and at just £2.99 it’s much cheaper than most of the other lip crayons on the market.
2True Pro BB Beautiful BB Cream & Pro Bright Touch Concealer* – the final products are both from the 2True Pro range, the BB Cream promises to smooth skin, hydrate, brighten, protect and mattify – I haven’t tried it yet so I can’t tell you whether or not it does all these things, but I will be trying it out later this week. It costs just £4.99 which is a good price for a BB Cream but it only currently comes in one shade.
Sadly I couldn’t get the Pro Bright Touch Concealer to work, the button on the end of mine was broken so I couldn’t dispense the concealer out through the brush (it’s supposed to work like Touche Éclat where you press the button and the product squirts out via a brush). Priced at £4.99 it comes in two shades.
Above is a swatch image showing all of the make-up products, from left to right it’s Pro BB Beautiful BB Cream, All Over Natural Bronzing Powder, Wow Gloss for Lips in 5 ‘Powerful Pout’, Expert Eyebrow Pencil in Shade 1 and finally Pro Tech Extreme Eyeliner.
I’ve really loved most of these 2True products that I’ve tried and I really have to urge you to take a look at their new UK website www.2truecosmetics.com. The website looks great and it’s really easy to use, all the make-up is grouped into Eyes, Face, Lips and Nails, plus a separate section for the Pro products. First on my shopping list would be some more of their cute nail polishes!
I’m also pleased to be able to offer my readers 10% OFF at www.2truecosmetics.com for a limited time, just use discount code X00418 when you check out. Plus get FREE DELIVERY when you spend over £20.
Has anyone else tried 2True products? What did you think? I’d love to hear your comments!
