Is Arbonne skincare really all that?

Posted by on Feb 21, 2018 in Makeup, Skincare | 2 comments

So recently I was sent loads of samples of Arbonne products, a brand that I’ve been reading a lot about recently and I was very curious to know if it is really as great as people have been making out. Arbonne is a natural skincare and make-up brand from the US, their products are cruelty-free, vegan, and made using many natural ingredients. I was sent the skincare and make-up samples by Arbonne consultant Kate Mansell, who was keen to find out what I thought of the products. The samples were only tiny so I wasn’t able to use them for very long, but it has given me a great...

5 of the best… Beauty Books

Posted by on Feb 7, 2018 in Makeup, Random, Skincare | 2 comments

So this is the second in the series of my new feature called ‘5 of the best…’ where I do a quick review of my 5 favourite items in a specific category and explain why I like them and who each one would suit. My first review in the ‘5 of the best’ series was Hot Cloth Cleansers, did you read it? Today I’m going to be looking at books about beauty, I’m a bit of a bookworm and I love reading about all things beauty, especially books about natural beauty products or those with step-by-step guides and tutorials. I’ve read so many over the years so I’m going...

Origins Ginger Blogger Event 2017

Posted by on Dec 13, 2017 in Skincare | 2 comments

So last week I was lucky enough to be invited to the Origins Ginger event at my local Origins store in York. It was being organised on behalf of the store by my blogger friend Laura from Laura Knows Lifestyle who has recently become an Origins ambassador. You’d be forgiven for missing the Origins store in York, it’s on the quirky Stonegate and it only has a tiny shopfront, but it makes up for it once you get inside as the beautiful ancient building goes quite far back making for a really impressive shop. We were welcomed into the store by Laura and the staff with a glass of...

The Body Shop Autumn Blogger Event 2017

Posted by on Nov 9, 2017 in Bath & Body, Makeup, Skincare | 2 comments

So a couple of weeks ago I was lucky enough to be invited to The Body Shop® blogger event at my local store in Coppergate, York. It had been organised by blogger Indigo Rosee, in collaboration with the store. The evening had been set up to showcase the new limited edition Christmas make-up collection and also promote the huge sale that the store had on. There were some amazing deals! We were welcomed with prosecco and nibbles and then had a few minutes to browse the store and take some photos. I received a great demonstration of the new make-up products which includes a funky black eyeliner pen with a...

5 of the best… Hot Cloth Cleansers

Posted by on Oct 2, 2017 in Skincare | 17 comments

So today I’m starting a new feature called ‘5 of the best…’ where I’ll do a quick review of my 5 favourite items in a specific category and explain why I like them and who each one would suit. My first review in the ‘5 of the best’ series is Hot Cloth Cleansers. What is a Hot Cloth Cleanser? Hot Cloth Cleansers are a fairly new popular way of cleansing the face, whereby you apply the thick creamy cleanser to your skin and then remove it with warm water using a soft bamboo or cotton face cloth that is provided with the product. Why do I need a Hot...

Get the lowdown now on emerging organic skincare brand

Posted by on Aug 28, 2017 in Skincare | 0 comments

A few weeks ago I was contacted by new skincare brand Sapphire Organic Skincare asking if I’d try out their products. I’m such an advocate of independent natural & organic skincare brands, I don’t like using products that contain nasty chemicals – including parabens, mineral oil, sodium laureth sulphate (SLS) – these are all ingredients that I try to avoid where I can. The branding has a bit of a way to go I think. The name Sapphire doesn’t stand out,  and there are no directions on the labels explaining how to use the products. The printing on the labels smudges when you touch them with product on your...

Why it’s time for change at Beauty Best Friend

Posted by on Aug 22, 2017 in Random | 14 comments

Change is in the air here at Beauty Best Friend HQ. Since having my daughter almost 2 years ago my blog has had to take a bit of a back seat while I learned how to be a mummy. I’ve been busy changing nappies, reading Peppa Pig and pureeing vegetables, and whilst it’s been enjoyable most of the time I’m looking forward to getting back to work when my little one starts pre-school in a couple of weeks. I’ve recently completed the Turn Your Dreams Into Money blog course from Emma Drew, which has been fantastically motivating. I think I’d lost sight of where I wanted Beauty Best Friend...

How to earn £100,000 from your blog

Posted by on Aug 6, 2017 in Random | 38 comments

It may look like things have been pretty quiet here at Beauty Best Friend for the past few weeks, but actually big things are afoot! I’ve been taking Emma Drew’s Turn Your Dreams Into Money blogging course, and I have to say it’s really changed the way I look at blogging. I’ve been blogging for over 4 years now and whilst I know a little bit about lots of aspects of blogging I really wanted my blog to work a lot harder for me and…. well…. start earning me a bit of money. It sounds wrong to say it out loud. Ultimately I started writing Beauty Best Friend because...
