The hunt for the perfect pink lipstick #5

Welcome to the fifth episode of ‘The hunt for the perfect pink lipstick’! I am on the hunt… the hunt for the perfect pink lipstick that is ‘MLBB’ or ‘my lips but better’. You know, the sort of colour that looks from a distance like you’re not wearing lipstick, like you just have naturally pink, plump perfect lips. The sort of colour you can just slick on from the tube and doesn’t need painstaking application with liner and lipbrush. The sort of colour that looks like ‘my lips, but better’.
Did you know that the average woman ingests 2.4 kilos of lipstick in her lifetime? Ewwww! Some lipsticks contain small amounts of lead which is poisonous, and other chemicals, so today I am reviewing Living Nature lipstick in Precious* that contains only 100% natural ingredients.
Living Nature is a New Zealand beauty brand that uses only 100% natural ingredients, preservatives and fragrances in all of its products. This is the fifth lipstick that I have tested as part of my hunt and Precious is a special edition colour launched by Lorraine Downes, Living Nature’s Brand Ambassador and New Zealand’s one and only ever Miss Universe (1983).
The black bullet tube is simple and uncomplicated with a slight rubbery textured finish and the Living Nature circular logo on the top of the lid (unfortunately I didn’t capture the logo in my photos).
Precious is a nude corally pink colour with a very creamy matt finish, and very little fragrance or taste which is good. You can see from the swatch image above that there is very little gloss within this colour but the coverage is good and dense.
The image above shows Living Nature lipstick in Precious on my lips and you can see that it gives a dense matt natural colour.
So is this my perfect pink lipstick?……. It comes pretty close in terms of the colour, when I wear this lipstick and look in a mirror it looks just like I am not wearing any lipstick and just have lovely naturally pink full lips. However, it is just too matt for me – I love lipsticks that are sheer and buttery and this just feels a bit too cloying on my lips. I will persevere with this lipstick though, I love the fact that it doesn’t contain any nasty chemicals and with a slick of clear gloss over the top I’m sure I can transform it into something a bit glossier.
This special edition Precious lipstick from Living Nature is priced at £20.50 and it can be purchased from Living Nature. However for a limited time they are promoting a buy-one-get-one-free on these Precious lipsticks so you can buy one for yourself and receive another ‘to gift to someone precious to you’.
