Naked – Rescue Shampoo & Conditioner

Naked – Rescue Shampoo & Conditioner

Those of you who are regular readers of Beauty Best Friend will know that I suffer from a very sensitive, itchy scalp and I am constantly on the hunt for haircare products that are natural and non-irritating but that also treat my hair well and leave it feeling soft, shiny and clean. So far my experience has generally shown me that natural, SLS-free shampoos and conditioners do not irritate the scalp as much as their chemical filled cousins, but that they do not always clean the hair as well and can leave it looking and feeling greasy, sad and lifeless. One of the first SLS-free shampoo and conditioners that I tried, back in 2013, was Mild Shampoo and Gentle Conditioner from Naked. The relief that I got from my itchy scalp was almost instant, but I did find that it didn’t remove grease and oil from my hair too well, and I had to wash my hair a lot more often. Eve Lom – Rescue Mask

Eve Lom – Rescue Mask

I love a good face mask, and this Rescue Mask from Eve Lom has won In Style’s award for “Best Mask for Congested Skin” for seven consecutive years, so I was looking forward to trying it out. The ingredients include Camphor, Almond and Honey-infused Kaolin Clay and Eve Lom describe it as ‘the perfect weekly deep clean to keep your complexion in radiant condition’. I assumed that this would be a creamy moisturising type of mask however when I squirted it out onto my fingers I found it was a thick clay-based mask – a creamy colour with rather large dark-coloured exfoliating grains in. It has an earthy scent with a menthol undertone that I found rather unpleasant (I think this is the scent of the Kaolin Clay coming through), and the smell stayed all the time...

John Frieda – Full Repair Hydrate & Rescue Shampoo & Conditioner

John Frieda – Full Repair Hydrate & Rescue Shampoo & Conditioner

I wouldn’t describe my hair as damaged, but it is coloured and the ends get very dry and flyaway, so anything that promises to hydrate and rescue hair is welcome! I was recently asked to try out this duo from John Frieda’s Full Repair range – Hydrate & Rescue Shampoo* and Conditioner* and have been using them for just over a week. The Full Repair range promises to ‘reverse damage with every use’ and I wasn’t sure what to expect from these products, as I know it’s not possible to actually repair damage to hair such as split ends, etc, so I was looking forward to seeing what benefits this John Frieda shampoo and condtioner brought. Both products have a hydrating formula, and the ingredients include Inca Inchi Oil which is rich in omega-3, this helps to rescue hair from the look and feel of damage as it nourishes. The Full Repair range is safe for chemically treated or coloured hair. Both the Full Repair shampoo and conditioner are...
