W7 – The Honey Queen Honeycomb Blusher

W7 – The Honey Queen Honeycomb Blusher

I first saw The Honey Queen Honeycomb Blusher online last Summer and I was lucky enough to receive it for Christmas after dropping some hints! It reminded me of Benefit’s Sugarbomb face powder – one of my favourite blushers – right down to the little square cardboard box and brush, and I wanted to see how it matched up. This product is called a blusher on the packaging, but on W7’s website they call it a bronzer! Confused! It’s actually like a cross between the two, the honeycomb pressed powder is a mixture of pink, peach and bronze tones, and merged all together they give a very light shimmery peachy shade. I’ve been using a Bobbi Brown Face Blender Brush to apply The Honey Queen, as I find that the little square brush that comes with it leaves a bit of a stripy effect on the cheeks. In the close-up image above you can clearly see the pale golden shimmer that runs across the feint lines of the surface....

Save The Blow Dry – Turquoise Shower Cap

Save The Blow Dry – Turquoise Shower Cap

A few months ago I was lucky enough to be able to try out and review a revolutionary new shower cap, Save The Blow Dry. Dubbed ‘the queen of shower caps’ the new quirky pink bathroom accessory had been developed to zap humidity and condensation, bathroom-proofing hair to leave it dry and bouncy. Plus, this new shower cap is large enough to protect even the longest and thickest of styles. You can read my full review of Save The Blow Dry here. So, “What’s new?” I hear you ask. Well, the lovely people over at Save The Blow Dry have only gone and made their ground-breaking shower cap in turquoise!! The image above shows the new turquoise Save The Blow Dry shower cap* in all it’s glory. It’s a lovely bright colour and perfect for anyone who doesn’t like pink, or even men who want to protect their perfectly blow-dried styles whilst in the shower. Now there’s no point in me going over old ground, I’ve already spoken about...

Queen – Shampoo for Sensitive Skin

Queen – Shampoo for Sensitive Skin

As I sometimes suffer from a senstive itchy scalp I have been trying out this Shampoo* from sensitive skin specialists Queen. Queen have been making hypo-allergenic products since 1927 and have never tested their products on animals. This mild shampoo is particularly suitable for sufferers of dandruff, seborrhoeic dermatitis and contact dermatitis. I also recently tried out Queen’s Eye Make-Up Remover, you can read that review here. The product is an orange colour with a regular shampoo-like gel consistency, and if you sniff it very closely it does have a very feint coconut scent, due to one of the ingredients being Coconut Diethanolomide. This shampoo contains very few ingredients, although I was surprised to read that it does contain sodium laureth sulphate (SLS) which can sometimes cause skin to be sensitive and can strip oils from skin. The shampoo doesn’t lather very much on the first application, but gives much more bubbles and lather on the second application. It did make my hair feel a bit tangled straight after...

Queen – Eye Make-Up Remover

Queen – Eye Make-Up Remover

I was recently asked to try this Eye Make-Up Remover from sensitive skin specialists Queen. Queen have been making hypo-allergenic products since 1927 and have never tested their products on animals. This Eye-Make Up Remover is super-mild with no fragrances or colourings and is suitable for contact lens wearers. Most of the other make-up remover products that I have tried in the past have been liquids so I was surprised to see this one from Queen is a thick, rich cream with almost a balm consistency. I suppose it makes sense really, as this is less likely to run into the eyes by accident than a liquid product. The Eye-Make-Up Remover cream should be applied to a cotton wool pad, then gently pressed over the delicate eye area. I found that my eyeshadow and eyeliner melted away immediately, but it did take much longer to remove my mascara and I had to rub quite a bit to make sure it was all removed from the base of my lashes....

Perfume of the day – Katy Perry ‘Killer Queen’ Eau de Parfum

Perfume of the day – Katy Perry ‘Killer Queen’ Eau de Parfum

Just a very quick review today of Katy Perry’s new Eau de Parfum ‘Killer Queen’. I received this phial of perfume in my October Glossybox and it’s only tiny so I haven’t really been wearing it much, but I did still want to review it as I had already mentioned it in my October Glossybox review post. Killer Queen perfume is described as ‘a charmingly playful yet lethally gorgeous floriental fragrance’ and contains scents of dark plum, wild berries, Red Velvet flower, Patchouli Heart and Liquid Praline. Personally for me all I can smell is the berries, it’s a nice warm fragrance that is very fruity, but I’m not getting the floral essences coming through. I would have to say that I find this fragrance OK but nothing too special, however I do appreciate that perfume is a really personal thing. I will be giving what is left in this phial to my sister who loves to keep these little mini perfumes in her handbag. Killer Queen Eau de...
