Murad – Invisiblur Perfecting Shield

Murad – Invisiblur Perfecting Shield

At first I wasn’t sure what Murad Invisiblur Perfecting Shield* was – I assumed that as it has SPF30 it was some kind of moisturiser, or perhaps some kind of BB Cream. To be honest even after using it for over a week I’m still not sure how I’d describe it! Murad say it’s a ‘5 in 1 multi-benefit formula‘, I’d suggest it’s a moisturising priming treatment with sunscreen! Invisiblur Perfecting Shield was a gold winner of Best New Premium Skincare Product at the 2015 Pure Beauty Magazine Awards and has also been recommended by Woman & Home magazine. The product itself is a clear gel that’s super silky smooth. The long list of ingredients include lots of natural ones such as Barley, Sunflower and Cucumber Extracts, but there are also some not so natural looking ones too. The aim of Invisiblur is to soften and prime skin whilst blurring wrinkles and imperfections, plus with SPF 30 it protects skin from the harmful effects of the sun which is...

NEW! TIGI Bed Head launches Joyride

NEW! TIGI Bed Head launches Joyride

Yesterday, 1st September 2015, marked the launch of Joyride – the new Powder Primer Balm (PP Balm) from TIGI’s Bed Head range. Joyride primes the hair with a fine, invisible powder that adds texture and grip, plus it also defrizzes and smoothes flyaway hair. Joyride can be used it on its own for styling, or as a primer before using other styling products. For best results it should be applied through the middle and lengths of damp hair to provide a soft texture, making the hair easier to style. I received a sample of Joyride* PP Balm a couple of weeks ago, you may have seen the teaser image I posted on Twitter as I wasn’t allowed to properly talk about the new product until after its launch… I have to admit I don’t normally use many styling products other than a bit of smoothing serum so I don’t have much to compare Joyride to, but after using my sample my hair did seem to resist frizz better than it would do usually after straightening....

Flint Plus Flint – Skincare Range

Flint Plus Flint – Skincare Range

I was sent this selection of products, it’s the Flint Plus Flint (or Flint+Flint) new range of skincare. You may not have heard of Flint+Flint, they’re a UK-based family run business – founders Max and Adam have run a chain of cosmetic clinics across England for some time, and after recommending skincare products to their clients for the past 10 years decided to create their own. I really like the sleek, grey unisex packaging with the bright coloured crosses, the products look very different from anything else you’d see on the shelf. Once you open a box too, the corresponding colour greets you inside… So I was sent a selection of 4 Flint+Flint skincare products to try out, and here’s what I thought of them: Glycolic Cleanser* – this is a glycolic wash that uses 12% glycolic acid to gently exfoliate the skin and remove dead cells. You apply the gel to your face then leave for 2 minutes before rinsing off. The product is a clear gel with a...

Urban Decay – Eyeshadow Primer Potion

Urban Decay – Eyeshadow Primer Potion

This little miracle is Eyeshadow Primer Potion from Urban Decay, and I can’t believe I’ve spent my life up to now without it! It’s one of Urban Decay’s all-time bestselling products and coveted by makeup artists. Eyeshadow Primer Potion is an eyelid primer that you apply before eyeshadow. It helps your eyeshadow to look more vibrant, and what’s more prevents creases for up to 24 hours. It’s a pale translucent creamy colour with a velvety texture, you only need to apply a tiny amount to cover each eyelid. I find the best way to apply it is with your finger. Once you have applied Eyeshadow Primer Potion to your eyelids just put on your eyeshadow as usual. You’ll find that it looks more vibrant and bright than normal – the primer allows the eyeshadow to ‘cling’ and it’s pale translucent formula also brightens the eyelid underneath the eyeshadow meaning the shadow almost glows. The swatch image below shows the Eyeshadow Primer Potion applied quite thickly so that you can...

Clarins – Instant Light Eye Perfecting Base

Clarins – Instant Light Eye Perfecting Base

Regular readers of Beauty Best Friend will know that Clarins is one of my favourite brands for both skincare and make-up, and today I am reviewing their new Instant Light Eye Perfecting Base*. The Clarins Instant Light range is one aimed at adding radiance to the skin and perfecting the skintone, and this eye base is enriched with oat sugar extracts which help to smooth, brighten and give radiance to eyelids while improving eyeshadow hold. The product itself, which comes in one shade, is a bit like a thick creamy foundation in consistency and is a pale tan shade. I have been applying it to my eyelids using the pad of my ring finger and gently dotting it on to make sure it’s smoothly applied – you only need a tiny amount and it quickly dries with a matt finish. You can wear it on its own to even out the skintone on your eyelids, or underneath eyeshadow. It’s really easy to squirt out just the right amount of...

Monu – Illuminating Primer SPF 15

Monu – Illuminating Primer SPF 15

I was really impressed with the last Monu skincare product that I tried out, so I was really pleased to see this little sample of Illuminating Primer SPF 15 in October’s Glossybox. Monu is an ethical skincare brand, they are against animal testing and their products contain no synthetic perfumes or colours. This Illuminating Primer SPF 15 contains zinc oxide for sun protection, plus antioxidant vitamin E, and is paraben free. This primer can be worn alone as a day moisturiser, or under make-up as a primer. It contains illuminating, light reflecting particles to give the face a radiant and soft-focus finish. Monu Illuminating Primer SPF 15 is a fairly light cream with a gentle plant-y scent. It does need to be massaged in to the skin very well otherwise your face may appear slightly white until the lotion has completely sunk in, but I do really like it. I love that it contains SPF 15 and helps protect against UV damage as I never go out of the...

Benefit – The POREfessional

Benefit – The POREfessional

I recently ordered some make-up items from Benefit (reviews of these coming soon!) and received this free sample of The POREfessional with my order. The POREfessional is a face primer balm that helps to reduce the appearance of pores & fine lines, and is the UK’s best-selling primer. I have combination skin with an oily nose and chin, resulting in some open pores on either side of my nose, so I was very excited to try out this primer. The POREfessional is a lovely smooth, velvety skin-coloured lotion and I have been applying a little on either side of my nose whenever I do my make-up. It applies really nicely, feeling silky-smooth, and gives a great mattifying effect and also reduces shine. Open pores do seem less visible after applying – I think this is due to a combination of reduced shine and the lotion sitting inside the pores and filling them up. The images below show what my open pores look like without and with The POREfessional. Benefit...
