Charlotte Tilbury – Luxury Palette and K.I.S.S.I.N.G. Lipstick

Charlotte Tilbury – Luxury Palette and K.I.S.S.I.N.G. Lipstick

So welcome to the next big thing in luxury make-up…. it’s Charlotte Tilbury! Products that have been designed to look as good in your handbag as they do on your face, you’ll never be ashamed to get these out in public for a quick make-up touch-up! I treated myself to this Luxury Palette and K.I.S.S.I.N.G. Lipstick with some money that I received for Christmas and I haven’t been disappointed. Read on to find out what I think… Luxury Palette in The Uptown Girl – in each Luxury Palette there are 4 co-ordinating eyeshadows that can take you from desk, through to dusk and on to the disco! There’s a short video on the Charlotte Tilbury website that shows how to apply the eyeshadows to create three different looks – a subtle one for daytime, a slightly smokier look for evening and then a full-on sparkle-fest for the nightclub. To be honest I’m a sucker for sparkle so I usually go for this last one no matter what time of day it...

The hunt for the perfect pink lipstick #8

The hunt for the perfect pink lipstick #8

Welcome to the eighth episode of ‘The hunt for the perfect pink lipstick’! I am on the hunt… the hunt for the perfect pink lipstick that is ‘MLBB’ or ‘my lips but better’. You know, the sort of colour that looks from a distance like you’re not wearing lipstick, like you just have naturally pink, plump perfect lips. The sort of colour you can just slick on from the tube and doesn’t need painstaking application with liner and lipbrush. The sort of colour that looks like ‘my lips, but better’. Today I am reviewing MAC Frost Lipstick in Angel. I love MAC make-up, I love the wide choice of lipstick colours that they have available and I love the way that the testers are displayed in the shop so that you can see the real colour of each lipstick and try it out. I like to do my research before purchasing a new MAC lipstick, searching on the internet for swatch images and reviews of colours that I think...

Chroma – Personalised Notebooks

Chroma – Personalised Notebooks

I have a bit of a thing for stationery, and my favourite piece of stationery is a notebook. I love the feeling of writing in a new notebook for the first time, I think it takes me back to the first day of a new school year! I have quite a collection of notebooks, but I didn’t own a personalised one until I received this pink beauty from Chroma Stationery. The Chroma brand was born after years of its owners trying to find a good quality notebook in a specific colour, and Chroma notebooks are now available in 20 different pretty colours – each one named after an important person or figure in the lives of the Chroma founders. My pink notebook shade is called Elizabeth and it’s named after a strong Irish lady. Another unique feature of Chroma notebooks is that you can have them embossed for free, in gold or silver, with any personalisation you want in a choice of fonts. Think of all the occasions when you...

Clarins – Perfect Eyes & Brows Palette

Clarins – Perfect Eyes & Brows Palette

This Perfect Eyes & Brows Palette* is a new product from Clarins, it’s an all-in-one compact set that contains everything you need to keep your eyebrows neat, tidy and defined plus a suits-all range of basic eyeshadows. If you like to keep your make-up bag pared back then this is for you! The classy gold compact contains three pressed powders in varying neutral shades (which can be used on brows or eyelids), a holding wax to set brows and a luminous pink shadow to enhance and highlight the eyes (I like to add a small dab of this just below my brow bone to highlight the area. There is also a double applicator, an eyebrow brush and mini tweezers –  I love the tweezers, they’re so cute! The set also comes with a little instruction sheet that gives you step-by-step instructions on how to use the different elements of the kit to get great brows. I really like the wax product, it should be brushed gently over the brows...

The hunt for the perfect pink lipstick #7

The hunt for the perfect pink lipstick #7

Welcome to the seventh episode of ‘The hunt for the perfect pink lipstick’! Today I am reviewing Longlasting Lipstick in 08 Colour Crush from Essence. Essence is a budget make-up brand that has only recently been launched in the UK in Wilkinsons stores, you might want to read my recent post about the UK launch of Essence Make-Up. The black bullet tube is simple and sleek and has a coloured pink band around the centre that matches the colour of the lipstick. I think that for a budget lipstick this one looks...

The hunt for the perfect pink lipstick #6

The hunt for the perfect pink lipstick #6

Welcome to the sixth episode of ‘The hunt for the perfect pink lipstick’! Today I am reviewing Lasting Finish Matte Lipstick by Kate Moss in Shade 101 from Rimmel London. I’ve not actually used a lot of Rimmel products recently despite them being one of my favourite brands when I was a teenager. The red bullet tube is simple and has Kate Moss’ signature printed in black on the lid. I don’t really feel that Rimmel products look very premium, but I do find that the packaging is well made and sturdy...

Black toothpaste?

Black toothpaste?

Yes, you read that right… black toothpaste! I was asked to try this out by Beverly Hills Formula and I was both intrigued and disgusted when I received it. Do you remember when Heinz launched a limited edition green ketchup a few years back? I felt the same then, some things are not meant to be a different colour! The thought of a black toothpaste is just something that’s never crossed my mind and it seems counter-intuitive to use something black to clean and whiten. Now for the sciencey bit… the reason that this toothpaste is black is because it contains activated charcoal which is known to eliminate bacteria and therefore prevent bad breath. Activated charcoal is also useful at removing tannins, these include coffee, tea and red wine, and these are the things that cause teeth to stain. So the toothpaste is able to gently remove stains from teeth without being too abrasive. Beverly Hills Formula recommend that the best whitening results can be seen after brushing for...

The hunt for the perfect pink lipstick #5

The hunt for the perfect pink lipstick #5

Welcome to the fifth episode of ‘The hunt for the perfect pink lipstick’! Did you know that the average woman ingests 2.4 kilos of lipstick in her lifetime? Ewwww! Some lipsticks contain small amounts of lead which is poisonous, and other chemicals, so today I am reviewing Living Nature lipstick in Precious* that contains only 100% natural ingredients. Living Nature is a New Zealand beauty brand that uses only 100% natural ingredients, preservatives and fragrances in all of its products. This is the fifth lipstick that I have tested as part of...
