What’s new from The Body Shop this Valentines Day?

What’s new from The Body Shop this Valentines Day?

You may have seen that a couple of weeks ago I featured the brand new Bowhanti perfume from The Body Shop® as my Perfume of The Day. Well today I’ve got a whole host of more brand news products from The Body Shop® to show you, and I think you’ll be impressed! First up is the new Almond Milk & Honey bodycare collection, newly released on Valentines Day! With almond milk from Spain and Community Trade honey from Ethiopia, this range is perfect if you suffer from sensitive or dry skin. Almond oil helps to nourish whilst honey soothes, and they both smell fantastic too! I’ve been trying out four different products from the range: Almond Milk & Honey Soothing & Caring Shower Cream is perfect for sensitive skin, it’s really light and much thinner and runnier than a shower gel. It has a texture similar to that of pouring cream, and it smells divine (in fact all these products smell amazing!). The scent is warm and comforting like...

Manuka Doctor – Apiclear Purifying Facial Peel

Manuka Doctor – Apiclear Purifying Facial Peel

A review of a brand new product today, it’s Apiclear Purifying Facial Peel* from Manuka Doctor. Manuka Doctor is a skincare brand that uses a couple of very specific unique ingredients within its products, mainly Manuka Honey and Purified Bee Venom (PBVi): – Manuka Honey boosts elastin and cell regeneration within the skin and it also has antibacterial and anti-inflammatory properties. You’ll probably have noticed that honey is becoming more and more popular within skincare products at the moment, due to its benefits. – Purified Bee Venom is the purest form of bee venom collected for skincare. It contains a potent combination of natural enzymes, peptides and amino acids and it’s a potent anti-ager and natural alternative to antibiotic therapy for acne. The bees aren’t harmed whilst gathering the venom, but a lot of people still think it’s cruel and PBVi is an ingredients that is shunned by cruelty-free campaigners. Purifying Facial Peel is a brand new product from the Apiclear range and I was one of the first to try it out. Aimed...

Temple Spa – The Big Reveal & The Contourist

Temple Spa – The Big Reveal & The Contourist

A few weeks ago I reviewed Repose Aromatherapy Resting Cream and explained why my opinion of Temple Spa had been changed for the better. Since then I was lucky enough to receive this Temple Spa skincare duo that I have been trying out for the past few weeks. Temple Spa’s philosophy is all about treating your body like a temple, using relaxing and comforting methods like you would receive in a spa, and their products are designed to treat mind, body and soul. Read on to find out how I got on with the skincare duo… The Big Reveal is a glycolic resurfacing peel for your skin, it works in a flash to lift away dead skin cells and debris and leave the skin looking clear and radiant. It’s a clear gel with a bit of a jelly-like consistency and a very strong acidic smell, the active ingredient here is glycolic acid which lifts those dead skin cells. You apply the gel to your face just like you would a...

Avojo – The Black Peel Off Mask

Avojo – The Black Peel Off Mask

I was recently invited to try out and review The Black Peel Off Mask* from Danish skincare brand Avojo. This mask has been developed to help reduce the production of excess oil and dead skin cells, in order to prevent blackheads and breakouts and keep the skin looking clear. The Black Peel Off Mask is a unisex product for use on the T-zone (nose, forehead and chin) but should be kept well away from the eye area. The mask dries and after 25-30 minutes it can then be peeled off. Avojo recommend using the mask 1-2 times a week, and there is plenty of product in one sachet. I tried out The Black Peel Off Mask yesterday morning. The first thing that I noticed was the strong alcoholic smell as I was applying the mask, it really made my eyes water – I think the alcohol evaporating is what makes the mask dry out so quickly. After leaving the mask to do its thing for 30 minutes I removed...

StyleLux – Blackhead Killer

StyleLux – Blackhead Killer

When StyleLux asked me to try out their new Blackhead Killer* mask I was quite intrigued as I wasn’t sure what to expect. I received 5 sachets and was eager to try the product out, although it didn’t really say on the sachet what the product was for or results to expect so I had to visit their website to find out this information. I found out from the StyleLux website that the Blackhead Killer is a peel-off mask that removes pimples, blackheads, impurities, and excess oil in minutes. As you can see from the image above the sachet was rather brief in its application directions too, it just said to allow to dry for 10 minutes and then peel off. The mask itself is a thick, dark brown tar-like cream, and it didn’t feel very luxurious applying it to the face. I would suggest that if you do use this product you make sure you don’t answer the door when you are wearing it as a dark brown...

Soap & Glory – The Fab Pore

Soap & Glory – The Fab Pore

Following Soap & Glory’s recent product redesign, I decided to try out some more of their products. The Fab Pore is described as a ‘2-in-1 pore purifying mask & peel’ and it is designed to unclog pores, detox the skin and reduce breakouts. This 2-in-1 deep-cleansing exfoliator/mask is infused with Superfruit™ Yuzu and Soap & Glory’s super-active secret weapon Poreshrink-R™ to help reduce the size of large open pores. It should be used once a week to help keep skin detoxed but can be used more often if you get a bad breakout. The Fab Pore is a minty scented pale green thick paste containing tiny exfoliating microbeads of rice. Firstly, massage The Fab Pore into the skin using your fingers like you would do with a regular exfoliator, you can feel the rice microbeads gently exfoliating the skin but they do feel gentle and there aren’t a lot of them. Leave the product on the skin for 5-15 minutes depending on how much of an extreme clean you...

Origins – Brighter By Nature Peel Pads

Origins – Brighter By Nature Peel Pads

I am a big believer in exfoliating your skin regularly in order to keep it smooth and glowing, so when I read about these Brighter By Nature Peel Pads from Origins I just had to try them. I love the Origins brand, their products contain no parabens, phthalates, paraffin or animal ingredients and are based on natural essential oils and plant-based ingredients. Their packaging is nice and simple too, with no gimmicks. This little Brighter By Nature tub contains 40 rounds exfoliating pads – they look a little bit like nail varnish remover pads at first glance. Each pad is textured and soaked in an exfoliating liquid that contains fruit acids which help exfoliate and break down dead skin cells – beware though, they do smell rather strong and potent and can make your eyes water a bit! Simply rub one pad all over the face in little circular movements, concentrating on any areas of skin discolouration or rough skin. Once you have covered half of the face you...
