What’s new from The Body Shop this Valentines Day?

What’s new from The Body Shop this Valentines Day?

You may have seen that a couple of weeks ago I featured the brand new Bowhanti perfume from The Body Shop® as my Perfume of The Day. Well today I’ve got a whole host of more brand news products from The Body Shop® to show you, and I think you’ll be impressed! First up is the new Almond Milk & Honey bodycare collection, newly released on Valentines Day! With almond milk from Spain and Community Trade honey from Ethiopia, this range is perfect if you suffer from sensitive or dry skin. Almond oil helps to nourish whilst honey soothes, and they both smell fantastic too! I’ve been trying out four different products from the range: Almond Milk & Honey Soothing & Caring Shower Cream is perfect for sensitive skin, it’s really light and much thinner and runnier than a shower gel. It has a texture similar to that of pouring cream, and it smells divine (in fact all these products smell amazing!). The scent is warm and comforting like...

The newest addition to the Lancôme Juicy family!

The newest addition to the Lancôme Juicy family!

Lancôme Juicy Tubes changed my life. Ok, well that’s a slight exaggeration but it was the first high-end make-up item that I ever bought and it made me feel like I was really getting somewhere. I’d got a good job, was in the process of buying my own house and I could afford to buy premium beauty products. I chose a transparent lemon yellow gloss with tiny flecks of iridescent glitter in, and over the following months I treated myself to several other Juicy Tube variants including a shimmery nude gloss called Pamplemousse which I wore on nights out for years (incidentally Pamplemousse is still going!). Fast forward several (ahem…) years and Juicy Tubes are still going strong, but there’s a new member of the Juicy family vying for attention – the Juicy Shaker.*. Another lip product, this one is a nourishing tinted lip oil which acts a bit like a gloss, and I was sent two of the new shades to try out – Piece of Cake and...

Merry Christmas from Beauty Best Friend!

Merry Christmas from Beauty Best Friend!

I just wanted to take this opportunity to thank all of my readers and to wish you all a big Merry Christmas! I know I’m a few days early but I’m taking a couple of weeks break from blogging over the festive period. I gave birth to a beautiful baby girl in September, and whilst motherhood has actually been easier (so far!) than I expected it to be I still need a bit of time to recharge my batteries. Plus, I want to completely immerse myself in her first Christmas and spend lots of time with family and friends without having to think about where my next blog post is coming from! 2015 has been a very special year for me – I’ve become a mummy and my blog is becoming more and more popular. I hope that 2016 will be just as good! I’ll be back in the New Year with lots of new blog posts, product reviews and useful beauty tips. Until then, have a very Merry...

The Body Shop launch Oils Of Life

The Body Shop launch Oils Of Life

This week The Body Shop® have launched the new Oils Of Life range, a collection of skincare products that all contain a blend of three natural oils – black cumin seed oil, rosehip seed oil and camellia seed oil – known for their supreme revitalising and repairing properties on skin. I’ve been lucky enough to try out a selection of the Oils Of Life products, using them for the past week, and I’ve been pretty impressed so far. Here’s what I think… The Body Shop® Oils Of Life Intensely Revitalising Essence Lotion – this is a bi-phase lotion which means that it contains both oil and water which separate out when it has been left to stand. I think the proportion of oil to water is fairly small though as the oil only takes up a centimetre or so of space at the top of the bottle. This lotion should be used a bit like a toner, you use it on a cotton wool pad after cleansing to remove the last...

2True Cosmetics launch new UK website – plus 10% discount

2True Cosmetics launch new UK website – plus 10% discount

To help celebrate the launch of 2True Cosmetics’ new UK website they sent me this collection of make-up goodies to try out. I’d never heard of the brand before, but found out that they are a budget brand whose products are available at Superdrug (sadly not my local store). With prices starting at £1.99 for a nail polish or a black mascara their competition are other budget brands such as Makeup Revolution, W7 and MUA. I was sent a total of 9 make-up products and I’ve been using them for the past couple of weeks, and I have to say that I’m really impressed so far… 2True Fast Dry Colour Quick Nail Polish* – I’m going to start off talking about these cute nail polishes as I think they’re great. Shade 21 is a bright peppermint green and Shade 23 is a pastel blue and they go so well together as you can see from the image below: The brushes inside the bottles are flat making it easy to apply the...

My new Kiehl’s skincare regime

My new Kiehl’s skincare regime

A couple of weeks ago I was lucky enough to be invited along to the Kiehl’s store in York for a complimentary facial and a selection of trial sized goodies to try out at home. If you don’t know much about Kiehl’s it was originally one old world New York pharmacy that was opened in 1851 by a Mr Kiehl and a Mr Morse (poor Mr Morse, he never got his name included in the brand). It offered its customers herbal remedies, over-the-counter drugs, essential oils and the very first Kiehl’s branded products. Fast forward over 150 years and it’s many stores now offer a wide range of skincare and bodycare products that make use of natural ingredients and benefit from Kiehl’s’ medicinal knowledge that has been developed over many years. Apparently it was the first skincare brand to offer a range specifically aimed at men, although all of their products look fairly unisex and could be used by both men and women. Kiehl’s still styles itself on a traditional apothecary/pharmacy and...

KISS Cosmetics – Beyond Limitations Mascara

KISS Cosmetics – Beyond Limitations Mascara

You’d be forgiven if you haven’t heard of KISS Cosmetics before as they only launched a few weeks ago. They’ve been working really closely with beauty bloggers here in the UK to get their opinions and ideas on everything from developing packaging to finalising lipstick colours, I think this is a great idea as beauty bloggers are experts in this field and they’ve generally tried hundreds of different make-up products. KISS Cosmetics will be predominantly lip focused, so far the 4 products that they’ve launched are a Lip Scrub, brightly coloured KISStick lipsticks, shiny Lip Vinyl glosses and Locked Lips top coat. However on Thursday 28th May KISS Cosmetics are due to launch their next product, Beyond Limitations Mascara*, and I’ve been lucky enough to be one of the first people to try it out! Beyond Limitations is a paraben-free black mascara which aims to define and lengthen lashes. The brush is quite large and it’s flat along the bottom and curved along the top…. KISS Cosmetics call it ‘turbine shaped’...

Clarins – New Year Skincare Must-Haves

Clarins – New Year Skincare Must-Haves

If your New Year’s resolution is to look after your skin then the first thing you need to focus on is your cleansing routine. It’s SO important to cleanse thoroughly at night to remove make-up and the grime from the day, and then again first thing in the morning to freshen up your skin and prepare it for the day ahead. This Extra-Comfort Anti-Pollution Cleansing Cream* from Clarins is a perfect choice, and it has been specially developed for those living in an urban environment who will come into contact with pollution on a daily basis. It aims to rid the skin from traces of pollution, detoxify the epidermis, and protect the skin from the harmful effects of pollution. The Cleansing Cream is thick, rich and quite sticky, it’s pale peach in colour and has a pleasant floral scent. I’ve been using it since New Year’s Eve and I’ve been pleasantly surprised – it easily removes make-up, although you may want to use a separate eye make-up remover as it...
