Docteur Renaud – Carrot Discovery Kit

Docteur Renaud – Carrot Discovery Kit

Earlier this year I reviewed the fabulous Carrot Scrub Detox from Docteur Renaud here on Beauty Best Friend blog. Docteur Renaud is a French natural cosmetology brand founded in 1947 and is now part of the Nuxe Group. The products all contain active ingredients taken from fruits, vegetables and flowers – some of which include raspberries, apricots, coconut and carrots. As I loved it so much I was recently sent this cute Carrot Discovery Kit* to try out as it contains two carrot moisturisers as well as the Carrot Scrub Detox. The kit, called ‘My Glowing Complexion Programme’, contains a 20ml tube of the Carrot Scrub Detox and mini 5ml samples of both Carrot Radiance Boost Day Cream and Carrot Renewing Night Cream, all nestled together inside a cardboard box decorated with carrots! I won’t go into full detail again about the Carrot Scrub Detox as you can read my full review here. I do have to say though that it’s a great exfoliator and it feels quite luxurious...

My Little Box – August 2015

My Little Box – August 2015

Today I have another My Little Box review for you, this one is for the August box and for once it’s on time! I received the August box last week and in my opinion it was another good one! The theme was My Little Gypset Box… I’d never heard of the word ‘gypset’ but according to the dictionary it relates to a ‘modern nomadic lifestyle’ and the products inside this month’s box are all geared around an easy lifestyle with a bohemian twist. If you’ve never heard of My Little Box it’s a quirky monthly beauty box that offers something a bit different, including their own range of make-up ‘My Little Beauty’, a proper readable mini magazine in each box, plus exciting little non-beauty extras – past examples have included jewellery, stationery and T-shirts. So, what was inside My Little Gypset Box in August….? I’ll start with the beauty products as these were my favourite items inside August’s box. There was a mini Korres Basil Lemon Body Milk, this is a...

My Little Box – July 2015

My Little Box – July 2015

Apologies, once again the My Little Box review is a bit late, I’ve been experimenting with my new DSLR camera and it took me a while to learn how to edit the images. Sadly the last couple of boxes have been disappointing for me, but I love this one, the theme is Road Trip…. think freedom, holidays and easy-to-use products! So, what was inside My Little Road Trip Box in July….? I’ll start with the beauty products as these were my favourite items inside July’s box. There was a full size Essie nail polish in ‘Time For Me Time’, it’s a very pale pink and I painted this onto my nails within about half an hour of receiving the...

My Little Box – June 2015

My Little Box – June 2015

Sorry this review of June’s My Little Box is a bit late, but I have an admission… I was so disappointed with the contents of this one that immediately after I’d opened it and seen what was inside I just put the lid back on and left it under my dressing table and didn’t open it again for a couple of weeks. Sadly the last couple of boxes have been disappointing for me, ever since The April ‘My Little Dreambox’ simply blew me away (I reviewed it here). The theme of June’s box was ‘My Little French Riviera Box’, I’m thinking that the boxes that have themes based on a location have been the ones that I haven’t enjoyed as much (last month’s box theme was Provence). If you’ve never heard of My Little Box it’s a quirky monthly beauty box that offers something a bit different, including their own range of make-up ‘My Little Beauty’, a proper readable mini magazine in each box, plus exciting little non-beauty extras – past examples...

My Little Box – May 2015

My Little Box – May 2015

The April ‘My Little Dreambox’ was simply stunning (I reviewed it here) and so I was really looking forward to seeing what May would bring. The theme was ‘My Little Provence Box’ which I thought was a bit of a strange choice, but it all made more sense once I opened it up – think long Summer days and relaxing in floral fields. So, what was inside My Little Provence Box in May….? All but one of the beauty products inside May’s box were miniature samples from L’Occitane, and I think this was where the Provence theme came from as the French region is where L’Occitane originated in 1976. They’re great little samples, although I do already have a couple...

My Little Box – April 2015

My Little Box – April 2015

I received my first My Little Box last month, and despite being a little bit disappointed with the beauty products inside I was very excited to see what April’s box would bring. It didn’t disappoint! The theme of the April box is ‘My Little Dreambox’ and they’ve fulfilled the theme so well. If you’re never heard of My Little Box it’s a quirky monthly beauty box that offers something a bit different, including their own range of make-up ‘My Little Beauty’, a proper readable mini magazine in each box, plus exciting little non-beauty extras – past examples have included stickers, stationery and T-shirts. So, what was inside My Little Dreambox in April….? One of my favourite items in the April box was this traditional style stamp and ink pad. The stamp has phrases in both French and English such as ‘Made With Love’ and ‘Avec Plaisir’ and it’s just so cute! I’ve already used it to stamp some stars onto some handmade business cards and I can see it coming...

My Little Box – March 2015

My Little Box – March 2015

After my foray with Glossybox last year I had all but given up on monthly beauty boxes, but then I read about My Little Box. Originally only available in France this quirky beauty box offers something a bit different, including their own range of make-up ‘My Little Beauty’, a proper readable mini magazine in each box, plus exciting little non-beauty extras – past examples have included stickers, stationery and T-shirts. My March box arrived last month and I couldn’t wait to open it! So, what was inside….? I have to admit that I had mixed feelings about my first My Little Box. The theme was ‘Superbox’, suggesting that every woman is a superwoman in her own way, and I think the contents suited this theme superbly (something that other beauty boxes struggle with). However I thought that one or two of the beauty products were a bit too mainstream for My Little Box and I would have preferred something a bit more quirky. The beauty products were all nestled...

Clarins – Instant Light Lip Balm Perfectors

Clarins – Instant Light Lip Balm Perfectors

I was so excited when I was sent these Instant Light Lip Balm Perfectors* from Clarins – I’m a big fan of Clarins products, plus I love any lip product that’s sheer and creamy, and I’d read such good things about these when they first came out in January. As with all Clarins products Instant Light Lip Balm Perfectors come in the bright crimson boxes: Despite their name Instant Light Lip Balm Perfectors are more like a lip tint than a lip balm, they have the texture of a hydrating balm but quite a highly pigmented coloured tint that gives the lips a hit of colour. I was sent 2 shades to try, Orange and My Pink. Orange is… well… an obvious orange shade! But My Pink is almost magic, it’s a pale pink shade and the sensitive pigments react to the pH level of your lips creating a bespoke pink colour that’s personal to you! It works in a similar way to Dior Addict Lip Glow Color Reviver Balm...
