Living Nature – Sensitive Day Moisture

Living Nature – Sensitive Day Moisture

It’s been a while since I did a post about natural skincare, but it’s something that I’m really passionate about as I think it’s important we know exactly what ingredients we are putting onto our skin. If you’ve not heard of Living Nature before it was launched in 1987 in New Zealand. Their products contain no synthetics, use only 100% natural ingredients, preservatives and fragrances and are never tested on animals. Their full range of cosmetics and skincare is Certified Natural by BDIH Germany, and their policy is ‘if there is any doubt about the safety of an ingredient, we don’t use it’. I love their philosophy! They also harness a lot of New Zealand’s native botanicals like Manuka Oil, Hallo Clay and Kelp and use these within their products. I’ve been using new Sensitive Day Moisture cream for almost two weeks now, part of Living Nature’s new Sensitive range. It’s a perfectly pH balanced, gentle daytime moisturiser that contains Organic Virgin Coconut Oil, Harakeke Flax Extract and Avocado Oil. The Harakeke...

Clarins – New Year Skincare Must-Haves

Clarins – New Year Skincare Must-Haves

If your New Year’s resolution is to look after your skin then the first thing you need to focus on is your cleansing routine. It’s SO important to cleanse thoroughly at night to remove make-up and the grime from the day, and then again first thing in the morning to freshen up your skin and prepare it for the day ahead. This Extra-Comfort Anti-Pollution Cleansing Cream* from Clarins is a perfect choice, and it has been specially developed for those living in an urban environment who will come into contact with pollution on a daily basis. It aims to rid the skin from traces of pollution, detoxify the epidermis, and protect the skin from the harmful effects of pollution. The Cleansing Cream is thick, rich and quite sticky, it’s pale peach in colour and has a pleasant floral scent. I’ve been using it since New Year’s Eve and I’ve been pleasantly surprised – it easily removes make-up, although you may want to use a separate eye make-up remover as it...

Miners – Moisture Effect Lipstick in Kiss Me Quick

Miners – Moisture Effect Lipstick in Kiss Me Quick

When I think of the brand Miners it reminds me of the very first eyeshadow palette I had as a little girl (a cast-off from my Mum!), it was a pale blue duo and I used it when I was dressing up. Fast forward several years and Miners is making a comeback! This is Moisture Effect Lipstick in Kiss Me Quick. There are currently only 3 different shades of Moisture Effect Lipstick available, all fairly bright shades, and they’re priced at just £3.99 each. Kiss Me Quick is a bright corally red shade with a creamy texture. It looks quite a matt texture in the tube, but once you apply it it’s quite creamy and it has a lovely fruity strawberry flavour. You can see from the image above that Moisture Effect Lipstick in Kiss Me Quick is very vibrant. It’s not the sort of colour I would normally choose, and I’ve had mixed reactions from people while I’ve been wearing it – a couple of friends said it...

Mirenesse – Lip Lift Moisture Shine in Pale Rose

Mirenesse – Lip Lift Moisture Shine in Pale Rose

Mirenesse pride themselves on being Australia’s Number 1 online beauty brand, and today I am reviewing their Lip Lift Moisture Shine in Pale Rose that I recently received in my Latest In Beauty Editor’s Picks collection box. Lip Lift Moisture Shine is a plumping lip gloss that contains Vitamin E and Collagen, the Collagen microspheres swell on contact with the lips to plump the lips within 5 minutes. I quite like the packaging with the shaped silver top, although I do think it looks a little bit old fashioned. The silver top screws off to reveal a fairly average applicator that can be used to apply the gloss to the lips. This lip gloss is a lovely dusky rose pink colour, a fairly natural shade, and it is lovely and thick and glossy as you can see from the swatch image below. There is very little scent or taste to it which is good, and it is a creamy colour with no shimmer. Although I love the colour of...

The Body Shop – Rainforest Balance Shampoo & Rainforest Moisture Hair Butter

The Body Shop – Rainforest Balance Shampoo & Rainforest Moisture Hair Butter

You may have already read that I have recently made the move to using natural shampoo and conditioner, following a problem with an itchy scalp (read about that here). I was interested to find out what other natural shampoos and conditioners were out there, and came across the Rainforest haircare collection from The Body Shop®. As this is such an affordable range I thought I would try it out, and none of the Rainforest range contains any silicones, colourants or parabens which can irritate the scalp. Rainforest Balance Shampoo is for oily hair, so I chose this as I have found that that my hair and scalp have been more oily since I started using natural shampoos as they don’t strip the oil from your hair like regular shampoos. This shampoo contains a number of natural ingredients including pracaxi oil, white nettle and seaweed plus Community Trade sugar and aloe vera. The thick, clear shampoo gives an ok lather on the first application – better than a lot of natural...

Garnier – Moisture Match

Garnier – Moisture Match

A couple of weeks ago I was lucky enough to receive 3 small samples of Garnier’s Moisture Match moisturisers, a new range of moisturisers customised to meet specific skin needs. Basically Garnier have created five new colour coded moisturisers, each one with different benefits aimed at a different skin type. I had requested the samples from Garnier’s website, and after answering a few questions about my skin they sent me the 3 samples which they thought would be best for my skin type (combination): Shine Be Gone for oily to combination skin – Shine Be Gone, enriched with green tea extract, is oil free and helps to reduce the appearance of shine. It comes in a green tube and is a very pale mint green lotion with a light, fresh cucumber-y smell. It has a strange powdery texture, feels cooling and refreshing on the skin, and my face didn’t feel oily after applying which is good. I liked this lotion, but would have preferred if it was left uncoloured. Protect & Glow for normal skin – Protect...
