A facelift in a jar from Temple Spa

A facelift in a jar from Temple Spa

I’ve shared my feelings about Temple Spa before in my review of Repose Aromatherapy Resting Cream. Basically, my first experience was a very pushy salesperson at a wedding fair several years ago which really put me off the brand, and it took me a while to try their products again. But when I did I was really impressed, and I can honestly say that nothing I’ve reviewed since has disappointed me! Today I’m reviewing Temple Spa Trufflesque, an Ultra  Hydration & Radiance Masque for the face. Trufflesque aims to give hydration and radiance to the skin, and plumps to help reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. It’s a luxury mask suitable for all skin types, particularly dry or dull skin, and it helps to rejuvenate tired skin too. The impressive list of ingredients includes black truffles, gold and silk peptides, but unfortunately these expensive additives contribute to Trufflesque’s slightly expensive price tag. The first thing that strikes me about this product is the amazing packaging. All Temple Spa products have...

Anne Semonin – Gel Mask

Anne Semonin – Gel Mask

When I was sent this Gel Mask* from French skincare brand Anne Semonin I knew I had seen the brand somewhere but it took me a while to remember that they provided the miniature toiletries for a hotel I stayed in when I went to London last Summer. Anne Semonin was created over 25 years ago, and the brand’s philosophy is all around the fact that a woman’s beauty is unique and that one size does not fit all when it comes to skincare. Gel Mask is a radiance treatment for dehydrated, tired skin and contains essential oils of Cypress, Ylang Ylang, Lavender and Palmarosa which help to energise the skin into re-establishing a radiant glow. I have combination skin and my forehead has been particularly dry recently, with flaky skin and very fine lines, so I was hoping that this Anne Semonin Gel Mask was just the remedy I needed. The packaging is lovely, I love the silver printing on the box and the jar feels quite luxurious. It’s been a bit of a nightmare for photographing...

Bioderma – Sebium Masque

Bioderma – Sebium Masque

I had read some great reviews of Sebium Masque* from Bioderma, so when I was offered the opportunity to review it I jumped at the chance. Sebium Masque is a ‘sebo-regulating purifying mask’ for combination and oily skin, in other words it aims to control the amount of sebum and oil that your skin produces which in turn helps to reduce breakouts. It is paraben free and hypoallergenic, and I really like the packaging as I feel that it looks quite clinical as many French skincare brands do. The mask is white and creamy with a strange powdery texture. It has a lovely refreshing cucumber scent and it’s really pleasant to use. You do need to apply quite a thick layer of the mask to your skin (it is a bit tricky to apply it thickly and evenly given its powdery texture) and then it dries although not too hard. To remove it you can either rinse it away with warm water or you can buff the dried mask with your...

Avojo – The Black Peel Off Mask

Avojo – The Black Peel Off Mask

I was recently invited to try out and review The Black Peel Off Mask* from Danish skincare brand Avojo. This mask has been developed to help reduce the production of excess oil and dead skin cells, in order to prevent blackheads and breakouts and keep the skin looking clear. The Black Peel Off Mask is a unisex product for use on the T-zone (nose, forehead and chin) but should be kept well away from the eye area. The mask dries and after 25-30 minutes it can then be peeled off. Avojo recommend using the mask 1-2 times a week, and there is plenty of product in one sachet. I tried out The Black Peel Off Mask yesterday morning. The first thing that I noticed was the strong alcoholic smell as I was applying the mask, it really made my eyes water – I think the alcohol evaporating is what makes the mask dry out so quickly. After leaving the mask to do its thing for 30 minutes I removed...

Clarins – HydraQuench Cream-Mask

Clarins – HydraQuench Cream-Mask

If you are a regular reader of Beauty Best Friend you will know that I am a big fan of Clarins skincare and I am a regular user of their HydraQuench Lotion which I reviewed here. So when I was sent this HydraQuench Cream-Mask* to try out I was very excited. The ingredients include Hyaluronic acid which helps to restore the skin’s water reserves and Katafray extract which also helps dehydrated skin to hold on to moisture. Firstly I must apologise for the quality of the photographs that I have taken of this product, the pearlescent shimmery finish of the blue tube reflects the light and has made it very difficult for me to take a clear photo of the tube! Clarins HydraQuench Cream-Mask is a thick, creamy, white non-drying mask which aims to add moisture to dehydrated or dry skins. It has a mild scent reminiscent of old-fashioned moisturisers or lotions like Astral. The mask should be applied to the face with the fingertips and then left on...

REN – Glycolactic Radiance Renewal Mask

REN – Glycolactic Radiance Renewal Mask

REN is a brand that I have been meaning to try out for a while now, as I am gradually trying to replace my everyday skincare products with those containing natural ingredients and, more importantly, not containing parabens, silicones and other nasties. All REN skincare products contain ‘only 100% plant and mineral derived actives and are free from skin-unfriendly synthetic ingredients’. REN Glycolactic Radiance Renewal Mask is really popular with bloggers, and I had read loads of great reviews before I tried it out. It has been created with four main functions: Removes dead skin cells to renew the complexion Skin looks brighter, healthier, more radiant Helps reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles Combats congestion, blackheads and blemishes I have been using REN Glycolactic Radiance Renewal Mask once a week. The orange-coloured gel mask is very sticky, with a sweet fruity orange smell, in fact it reminds me very much of rubbing orange Calpol on my face (do they still do orange Calpol?)! Once on the face the mask...
