MUA – Undress Me Too Eyeshadow Palette

MUA – Undress Me Too Eyeshadow Palette

I know that all the beauty blogs are full of reviews of this Undress Me Too Eyeshadow Palette from MUA. I have tried to make this review a bit different from everyone else’s by actually creating 3 different looks using the palette. I think the reason that this palette has been reviewed so much is firstly because it is just such great value and everyone can afford to buy it, and secondly because it contains such a great array of neutral colours. The Undress Me Too palette contains 12 round eyeshadows in a range of nude beiges and browns with a mixture of shimmery and matt finishes, and a small double ended sponge applicator (in general I don’t mind sponge applicators although I do find this one a bit hard). The shadows have actually been named which I think is great, so often MUA just gives its colours number references of ‘Shade 1, Shade 2….’ etc which is a trait that I’m not keen on. The base of the...

MUA – Power Pout in Irreplaceable

MUA – Power Pout in Irreplaceable

There are so many chubby lip pencils about at the moment that it’s difficult to know which ones to choose. I love Clinique’s Chubby Sticks but they’re a bit pricey so I thought I would check out MUA’s value offering in the chubby pencil market. I have already reviewed MUA’s Power Pout pencil in chic nude Rendezvous, you can read that here. Irreplaceable is a bright fuchsia pinky purple colour, it is really vibrant. I was a bit unsure about whether I could wear something so bright when I first tried it out, but as it is fairly glossy and sheer this helps to tone down the colour a little. It is lovely and buttery and moisturising and doesn’t dry out when on the lips – it stills feels soft and moisturising hours after applying it. It will be great in the Winter to help protect your lips from the cold weather. You can clearly see from the image below how glossy this colour is. The silver end of...

MUA Blusher – Shade 2

MUA Blusher – Shade 2

Up until about 3 months ago I had always been a bit of a beauty snob and thought that you got what you paid for with make-up, and that all of the new budget beauty brands that are emerging couldn’t have been any good. But there is a brand that has now changed my mind, and that is MUA. Available online and from Superdrug, MUA (short for Makeup Academy) offers a huge range of budget make-up which starts from just £1…. yes, you read that correctly, just £1! So today I am reviewing MUA Blusher in Shade 2, could it be the best-value blusher in the world?! MUA Blusher in Shade 2 is a peach-coloured pressed powder blusher in a small rectangular compact. I don’t normally go for peach or orange based blushers, usually sticking to more bluey-pinks, but I thought it might be nice for the Summer months to wear when I have a tan. The colour applies quite sparingly to the cheeks and you need to apply several layers...

MUA – Undressed Eyeshadow Palette

MUA – Undressed Eyeshadow Palette

I know what you’re thinking… ‘Not another review of MUA’s Undressed Eyeshadow Palette…’. Well yes, apologies, it is another review of MUA’s bestselling Undressed Eyeshadow Palette, but I’ve tried to make this review a bit different from everyone else’s by actually creating 3 different looks using the palette. I think the reason that this palette has been reviewed so much is firstly because it is just such great value and everyone can afford to buy it, and secondly because it contains such a great array of neutral colours. The Undressed palette contains 12 round eyeshadows in a range of nude beiges, browns and greys with a mixture of shimmery and matt finishes, and a small double ended sponge applicator (I know some people don’t like sponge applicators, but I don’t mind them and I find you get less powder ‘drop off’ with a sponge applicator than you do with a brush). The shadows are all named ‘Shade 1, Shade 2….’ etc which is an MUA trait that I’m not...

MUA – Nail Polish in Natural Days

MUA – Nail Polish in Natural Days

My current favourite nail polish is this pale baby pink colour from MUA called Natural Days, it looks great on both fingers and toes! I bought it in my MUA haul a few weeks ago, and have been wearing it pretty much ever since! It dries with a fairly good shine too, although you could apply a clear shiny top coat over the top if you wanted your nails to look extra shiny. The brush is fairly small but not too difficult to use, and I like to apply my coats of nail polish fairly thickly to give a good coverage. I just love the colour, it’s such a pretty pale pastel pink and I think it would make a great base colour for nail art too. For the photo above I applied 2 thickish coats of Natural Days and you can see the great shine even though there is no clear top coat applied. It also lasts for quite a few days as long as you are fairly careful...

MUA – Lipstick in Shade 14

MUA – Lipstick in Shade 14

This is the second MUA lipstick that I have tested (see the previous review here). MUA lipsticks are remarkable in the fact that they are fantastic value for money and cost just £1! Yes, you read that correctly, just £1. “But are they any good?” I hear you ask. Well keep reading… Shade 14 is a pale nude beige colour, it is surprisingly creamy, applies really nicely from the tube and has a lovely vanilla scent – it certainly doesn’t feel like a budget product. It is a fairly matt colour with no shimmer as you can see from the swatch image below. Makeup Academy Lipstick in Shade 14 is great given it’s price and I have been wearing it when I want to play down my lips and make a feature of my eyes. The sleek black tube wouldn’t look out of place in a cosmetic purse filled with Chanel and Mac products either. I have said before that it would be nice if MUA gave their lipstick colours a name rather...

MUA – Sheer Finish Lipgloss in ‘Lets Meet’

MUA – Sheer Finish Lipgloss in ‘Lets Meet’

A few weeks ago I purchased a haul of make-up from budget beauty brand MUA (Make Up Academy) and this week I have been testing their Sheer Finish Lipgloss in ‘Lets Meet’ which is a lovely natural nude beige colour. MUA Sheer Finish Lipgloss is a budget rival to Lancôme Juicy Tubes and other similar glosses. The little tubes fit nicely in a pocket or handbag and I love to use lipgloss for a sheer Summer make-up look. The MUA Sheer Finish Lipgloss squirts straight out of the end of the tube onto the lips, and you can then use the flattened nozzle to spread the lipgloss across your lips. This one has a lovely strawberry taste and is extremely glossy. ‘Lets Meet’ is a lovely natural nude beige colour, you can clearly see the colour on the swatch image below. What’s more, it’s not too runny either and it stays put, not bleeding over the lip line. When I apply lipgloss I like to just apply a really thin coat,...

Superdrug Haul

Superdrug Haul

Only a short post today before I put my tired feet up – I have had a day shopping in York and have picked up this very tasty haul from Superdrug! I’m so excited about trying out these new products… I have the new MUA Undress Me Too eyeshadow palette plus a £1 MUA lipstick and £1 MUA blusher, a trio of Barry M nail paints, a zesty green eyeshadow palette from Collection, and a Polka Dots nail varnish from Maybelline which I hadn’t seen before. I also picked up a pack of foam applicators – perfect for all that eyeshadow swatching I’m going to be doing over the coming days! Finally I couldn’t leave Superdrug without purchasing the new wonder product that is B Flawless Targeted Wrinkle Filler – it’s being hailed as almost as good as botox… I will let you know what I think. Superdrug have a ‘3 For 2’ offer on all cosmetics at the moment, so I even saved myself money (well, that’s what...
