What’s new from The Body Shop this Valentines Day?

What’s new from The Body Shop this Valentines Day?

You may have seen that a couple of weeks ago I featured the brand new Bowhanti perfume from The Body Shop® as my Perfume of The Day. Well today I’ve got a whole host of more brand news products from The Body Shop® to show you, and I think you’ll be impressed! First up is the new Almond Milk & Honey bodycare collection, newly released on Valentines Day! With almond milk from Spain and Community Trade honey from Ethiopia, this range is perfect if you suffer from sensitive or dry skin. Almond oil helps to nourish whilst honey soothes, and they both smell fantastic too! I’ve been trying out four different products from the range: Almond Milk & Honey Soothing & Caring Shower Cream is perfect for sensitive skin, it’s really light and much thinner and runnier than a shower gel. It has a texture similar to that of pouring cream, and it smells divine (in fact all these products smell amazing!). The scent is warm and comforting like...

The newest addition to the Lancôme Juicy family!

The newest addition to the Lancôme Juicy family!

Lancôme Juicy Tubes changed my life. Ok, well that’s a slight exaggeration but it was the first high-end make-up item that I ever bought and it made me feel like I was really getting somewhere. I’d got a good job, was in the process of buying my own house and I could afford to buy premium beauty products. I chose a transparent lemon yellow gloss with tiny flecks of iridescent glitter in, and over the following months I treated myself to several other Juicy Tube variants including a shimmery nude gloss called Pamplemousse which I wore on nights out for years (incidentally Pamplemousse is still going!). Fast forward several (ahem…) years and Juicy Tubes are still going strong, but there’s a new member of the Juicy family vying for attention – the Juicy Shaker.*. Another lip product, this one is a nourishing tinted lip oil which acts a bit like a gloss, and I was sent two of the new shades to try out – Piece of Cake and...

The lip balm that tastes good enough to eat!

The lip balm that tastes good enough to eat!

I picked up this cute Bee Good Raspberry & White Chocolate Lip Balm* in my goody bag from a recent blogger event that I attended in Leeds, the #LeedsMarchMeet. It was a social meeting for bloggers who live in the Leeds area and the aim was to raise money and collect donations for a local foodbank. I had a great time at #LeedsMarchMeet, it’s always nice to meet other bloggers – they’re such a friendly bunch! We also got crafty making our own name badges and feasted on sweets and tasty homemade cakes. There were several health and beauty goodies in my goody bag including this lip balm from Bee Good. The brand was created in 2008 by a Hampshire beekeeper and his wife when they were looking to find uses for excess honey and beeswax from their bees. The brand has leaping bunny status, meaning that their products aren’t tested on animals, and the natural ingredients of the lip balm include British beeswax, Vitamin E, Borage Oil and Echium...

Want full pouty lips?

Want full pouty lips?

Manuka Doctor is a brand that I’ve only recently started to learn about, having reviewed their ApiClear Purifying Facial Peel a few weeks ago. I was given this ApiRefine Lip Enhancer to try out by one of their representatives at The City Girls blogger event that I attended recently in Leeds, and there was quite a buzz around it given the current trend for pouty lips. Manuka Doctor Lip Enhancer is a lip plumper containing Purified Bee Venom and Manuka Honey to help encourage natural collagen formation in the lips, and has been clinically proven to increase lip volume in as little as 5 minutes. The product itself is a milky coloured gel that you apply to your lips just like you would with any other lip balm. Not only does it aim to plump the lips but it also moisturises them, although I was disappointed to read that the main ingredient is Paraffinum Liquidum – sometimes known as Mineral Oil or Liquid Paraffin – which is a by-product of...

Manuka Doctor – Apiclear Purifying Facial Peel

Manuka Doctor – Apiclear Purifying Facial Peel

A review of a brand new product today, it’s Apiclear Purifying Facial Peel* from Manuka Doctor. Manuka Doctor is a skincare brand that uses a couple of very specific unique ingredients within its products, mainly Manuka Honey and Purified Bee Venom (PBVi): – Manuka Honey boosts elastin and cell regeneration within the skin and it also has antibacterial and anti-inflammatory properties. You’ll probably have noticed that honey is becoming more and more popular within skincare products at the moment, due to its benefits. – Purified Bee Venom is the purest form of bee venom collected for skincare. It contains a potent combination of natural enzymes, peptides and amino acids and it’s a potent anti-ager and natural alternative to antibiotic therapy for acne. The bees aren’t harmed whilst gathering the venom, but a lot of people still think it’s cruel and PBVi is an ingredients that is shunned by cruelty-free campaigners. Purifying Facial Peel is a brand new product from the Apiclear range and I was one of the first to try it out. Aimed...

W7 – The Honey Queen Honeycomb Blusher

W7 – The Honey Queen Honeycomb Blusher

I first saw The Honey Queen Honeycomb Blusher online last Summer and I was lucky enough to receive it for Christmas after dropping some hints! It reminded me of Benefit’s Sugarbomb face powder – one of my favourite blushers – right down to the little square cardboard box and brush, and I wanted to see how it matched up. This product is called a blusher on the packaging, but on W7’s website they call it a bronzer! Confused! It’s actually like a cross between the two, the honeycomb pressed powder is a mixture of pink, peach and bronze tones, and merged all together they give a very light shimmery peachy shade. I’ve been using a Bobbi Brown Face Blender Brush to apply The Honey Queen, as I find that the little square brush that comes with it leaves a bit of a stripy effect on the cheeks. In the close-up image above you can clearly see the pale golden shimmer that runs across the feint lines of the surface....

Bee Good – Honey & Wild Water Mint 3-in-1 Cleansing Water

Bee Good – Honey & Wild Water Mint 3-in-1 Cleansing Water

All things honey and bee-related are really popular at the moment, plus it has recently been highlighted that honey has wonderful properties that help to treat and improve skin. This Bee Good Honey & Water Mint 3-in-1 Cleansing Water is made in Hampshire, UK, from the honey of British bees and other natural ingredients and contains no synthetics or parabens. This 3-in-1 Cleansing Water is a clear liquid with hardly any scent and it really does have 3 benefits – it dissolves and removes make-up, cleanses the skin like a cleanser and then tones and refreshes the skin. It should be applied to a cotton wool pad then swept over the face, with no need to rinse afterwards, and can be used morning and night. Personally I don’t like products where there is no need to rinse as I don’t like the feeling of a product being left on the skin, so I have been using it as a pre-cleanse to remove make-up before using my usual Eucerin Dermo...

Burts Bees – Lip Shimmer in Champagne

Burts Bees – Lip Shimmer in Champagne

I had been lusting after this Burts Bees Lip Shimmer in Champagne for ages, ever since I reviewed their Lip Shimmer in pink Guava last Summer (you can read that review here). Although I really liked the pink Guava one I felt that the more neutral Champagne shade would suit me better, so I decided to ‘invest’! Burts Bees is one of my favourite brands for lip care products, they strive to produce 100% natural beauty products and they also do a lot of work to help protect bees, given that a lot of their products contain beeswax. In my opinion a lot of natural beauty brands scrimp on their packaging design and end up looking a bit down-market. Not Burts Bees! I just love their packaging in eye-catching yellow and red, with just a touch of the traditional about it. This little lip shimmer comes in a twist-up bullet formation (although it does not twist back down which is a bit annoying) with the eye-catching Burts Bees logo on...
