The newest addition to the Lancôme Juicy family!

The newest addition to the Lancôme Juicy family!

Lancôme Juicy Tubes changed my life. Ok, well that’s a slight exaggeration but it was the first high-end make-up item that I ever bought and it made me feel like I was really getting somewhere. I’d got a good job, was in the process of buying my own house and I could afford to buy premium beauty products. I chose a transparent lemon yellow gloss with tiny flecks of iridescent glitter in, and over the following months I treated myself to several other Juicy Tube variants including a shimmery nude gloss called Pamplemousse which I wore on nights out for years (incidentally Pamplemousse is still going!). Fast forward several (ahem…) years and Juicy Tubes are still going strong, but there’s a new member of the Juicy family vying for attention – the Juicy Shaker.*. Another lip product, this one is a nourishing tinted lip oil which acts a bit like a gloss, and I was sent two of the new shades to try out – Piece of Cake and...

Lip products from Lord & Berry

Lip products from Lord & Berry

I first heard of Lord & Berry a year or so ago and I was really tempted by the sleek black packaging and wearable shades. They seemed to drop off my radar a bit after that though, and it’s only recently that I’ve started to hear about them again. I was given the opportunity to try out a selection of their lip products and I’ve been using them for about the past 3 weeks. Read on to see what I think: First up it’s the 20100 Lipstick Pencils*, these are available in either Matte or Shiny and I’ve tried out one of each. The pencils are a bit slimmer than the usual chunky crayons that are popular at the moment and this makes it a bit easier to apply the colour straight from the pencil – although you could use a lip brush but it can be a bit tricky to coax enough colour off the slim nib and onto the brush. The pink one is called Flush, it’s...

Clarins – Instant Light Natural Lip Perfector in Toffee Pink Shimmer

Clarins – Instant Light Natural Lip Perfector in Toffee Pink Shimmer

OK so a couple of years ago I reviewed a pair of lip glosses from Clarins that I have used SO MUCH since… they were Instant Light Natural Lip Perfectors in Nude Shimmer and Rosewood Shimmer. I wear them on their own, over nude lipstick, over pink lipstick, pretty much with anything and everything. So imagine how excited I was when I heard that Clarins have recently launched a new Toffee Pink Shimmer shade of Natural Lip Perfector*! Now if you’re a regular reader of Beauty Best Friend then you’ll know that pink is pretty much my favourite colour for lips and that I’m on a mission to find the perfect shade of pink lipstick (you can read a couple of my posts about my search here and here). So a pink version of my favourite lip gloss is very exciting! Instant Light Natural Lip Perfectors are a sheer lip gel with a subtle colour and a super-sweet vanilla flavour. The ingredients include Shea Butter and Mango which soften the lips...

W7 – Budget Lip Products

W7 – Budget Lip Products

A couple of weeks ago I received a fab selection of make-up from budget beauty brand W7, so I decided to split them up into three separate reviews – lip products, face products and eye products. Today I’m going to be taking you through the four lip products that I received… The first two are Lip Paints*, available in five colours my shades are called Queen Of Hearts (pink shade, lying down) and Naughty (red shade, standing up). They’re both really opaque and pigmented, definitely more like a thick coloured paint than a gloss although they are very glossy too. Queen Of Hearts is a bright mid-pink shade and Naughty is a bright crimson red. Both have a pleasant tingly minty taste but you just need to be careful you don’t get them on your teeth as they can stain – not a good look! I have to say that they do require very careful application as they’re so bright any mistakes or wonky lip lines will show up...

Natural skincare from MooGoo

Natural skincare from MooGoo

MooGoo is a brand that I first came across at The City Girls blogger event a couple of weeks ago in Leeds. MooGoo is an Australian natural skincare brand that was first made when the founder adapted a cream used in dairy farms to help a family member with a skin problem. Their products contain lots of natural oils and are not tested on animals – well, apart from the very first of their products that was created for cows! I was lucky enough to receive this Full Cream Moisturiser, Milk Wash sample and Dusty Girls Natural Mineral Lip Gloss in my goodie bag at the event and I’ve been testing them out… MooGoo Full Cream Moisturiser – what can I say, I love this product! Whilst the packaging looks a bit gimmicky with the cows on it, and the cardboard box has been designed to look like a milk carton, the contents are really great. Containing Sweet Almond Oil, Coconut Oil and Milk Protein which helps to increase...

Stila – Lip Glaze in Gleam

Stila – Lip Glaze in Gleam

I’ve had this Stila Lip Glaze since before Christmas, when it arrived as part of my Glow & Behold Makeup Set, but only got round to trying it recently. I’d wanted to try a Stila Lip Glaze for ages, they always look so tempting on the shelves in the shops with their candy colours. Lip Glaze is available in 36 different shades, mine is Gleam, a natural shimmery nude that can be worn on its own or over most other lipstick colours. I like to wear it on its own to give my lips a really glossy finish, the glaze contains tiny particles of iridescent shimmery glitter that really shines when it catches the light. It has a pleasant sweet taste/scent, a bit like burnt vanilla caramel, although it’s not as sweet as the taste of some other lip glosses. It’s really easy to apply using the brush too, you just twist the opposite end to make the Lip Glaze squirt out inside the brush (although the first time...

Benefit – Ultra Plush Lip Gloss in A Lister

Benefit – Ultra Plush Lip Gloss in A Lister

I bought this Benefit Ultra Plush Lip Gloss on a bit of a whim at duty free last month, when I was travelling to Amsterdam. I always like to treat myself to a new lipstick whenever I travel on a plane, and as Leeds Bradford Airport is slightly limited in its choice of duty free make-up I quickly decided to go with this offering from Benefit. Ultra Plush Lip Glosses are quite a new product from Benefit and they’re available in 6 different sugary sweet shop shades, I chose A-Lister, a shimmery peach shade as I thought it would look great layered over a nude or a pink lipstick. It’s quite a gloopy, thick lip gloss, and it has a strong, sweet flavour/scent that is just like fruity ice cream! I love the art deco inspired cardboard packaging and the decadent moulded plastic lid, a lot of thought has gone into the Ultra Plush Lip Gloss packaging and it really stands out from other lip glosses. The little green ribbon...

MUA – Sheer Finish Lipgloss in Too Much Fun

MUA – Sheer Finish Lipgloss in Too Much Fun

It’s been a while since I’ve reviewed anything from MUA so today I’m going to be talking about their Sheer Finish Lipgloss in Too Much Fun. MUA Sheer Finish Lipgloss is a budget rival to Lancôme Juicy Tubes and other similar glosses. The little tubes fit nicely in a pocket or handbag and I love to use lipgloss for a sheer Summer make-up look. The MUA Sheer Finish Lipgloss squirts straight out of the end of the tube onto the lips, and you can then use the flattened nozzle to spread the lipgloss across your lips. This one has a lovely strawberry taste and is really glossy. ‘Too Much Fun’  is a bright raspberry pink, you can clearly see the colour on the swatch image below and it’s really thick and glossy. What’s more, it’s not too runny either and it stays put, not bleeding over the lip line. When I apply lipgloss I like to just apply a really thin coat, as I don’t like the feeling of a...
