Lancome – Gentle Softening Cleansing Fluid

Lancome – Gentle Softening Cleansing Fluid

I received this sample size of Lancome’s Gentle Softening Cleansing Fluid (Galateis Douceur) in my Selfridges Beauty Advent Calendar in December, although I have purchased it in the past. It’s a really simple, gentle product, and can also be used around the delicate eye area reducing the need for a separate eye make-up remover. The product is a very light milky white lotion and it has a gentle creamy scent. It turns almost transparent when you warm it in your hands before applying it gently to the face. I have combination skin with a particularly oily chin but this Gentle Softening Cleansing Fluid doesn’t feel oily at all on the skin, just gentle and light, and I think it would be great for oily skins. It would also be great to use in Summer when skin naturally produces more oil in humid temperatures (if we get a Summer that is!). My skin feels light and refreshed after using this product, but not dry, and it does easily remove eye...

Eve Lom – Rescue Mask

Eve Lom – Rescue Mask

I love a good face mask, and this Rescue Mask from Eve Lom has won In Style’s award for “Best Mask for Congested Skin” for seven consecutive years, so I was looking forward to trying it out. The ingredients include Camphor, Almond and Honey-infused Kaolin Clay and Eve Lom describe it as ‘the perfect weekly deep clean to keep your complexion in radiant condition’. The Rescue Mask is recommended for stressed skin, for example blotchy skin, irritable break-outs, jet-lag or puffiness, so it’s perfect for a skin treat after the excesses of Christmas and New Year! I assumed that this would be a creamy moisturising type of mask however when I squirted it out onto my fingers I found it was a thick clay-based mask – a creamy colour with rather large dark-coloured exfoliating grains in. It has an earthy scent with a menthol undertone that I found rather unpleasant (I think this is the scent of the Kaolin Clay coming through), and the smell stayed all the time...

Clarins – Pure And Radiant Mask

Clarins – Pure And Radiant Mask

The New Year is traditionally a time when people detox and try different ways to re-energise and rejuvenate their bodies after a busy and excessive Christmas period, and it’s no different for our skin. So when the lovely people at Clarins asked me if I would like to review one of their products in the New Year I said I would like to review a skincare product that would be perfect for tired and dehydrated skin, and they sent me this Pure And Radiant Mask from their Truly Matte range. Pure And Radiant is a deep-purifying mask that contains refreshing Pink Clay. It aims to clean and tighten the skin whilst refining pores, leaving a fresh matte result. It also helps to  comfort red or irritated skin which is perfect for this time of year. The mask has a soft creamy texture, is very pale peach (almost white) in colour and has a gentle divine scent. In fact when I think about it I love the smell of most...

Naked – Mild Shampoo & Gentle Conditioner for Sensitive Scalp

Naked – Mild Shampoo & Gentle Conditioner for Sensitive Scalp

Occasionally I get a really itchy scalp. I’ve visited the doctor about it before and he said there was nothing wrong and just to ‘try using a different shampoo’ – I’ve tried regular shampoo, medicated shampoo and anti-dandruff shampoo, none of which have had any effect. So when I ready about Naked and their natural, gentle products I thought they might be the answer, and I have been trying out Naked Mild Shampoo & Gentle Conditioner for Sensitive Scalp. Naked launched in 2005 and their skincare and haircare products are all at least 97% natural and contain no parabens, sodium laureth sulfate (SLS) or petrochemicals. All Naked products are made in the UK and their packaging is environmentally friendly. We need more brands like this! Naked’s website explains that SLS is a common ingredient used in toiletries to make them foam and cleanse. It is widely used by manufacturers because it’s cheap and effective but it can cause everyday skin complaints from dryness to red, tight itchy skin, and can also aggravate...

Clarins – Gentle Eye Make Up Remover & Water Purify One-Step Cleanser

Clarins – Gentle Eye Make Up Remover & Water Purify One-Step Cleanser

I placed an order online with Clarins a couple of weeks ago for their HydraQuench Lotion (you can see my review of that here) and got the chance to order 6 small samples of Clarins products. Clarins are really good at offering product samples, both online and at their counters, in fact it’s how I very first got into Clarins products many years ago. I recommend that if you’ve never really tried Clarins before visit one of their counters and suggest that you’re looking for some new skincare products but you’re not sure what to choose and you don’t want to buy something without trying it first – they will be really helpful and send you away with a selection of samples to try out at home. What’s more, they will be in proper little bottles and tubes, not sachets like a lot of the other skincare brands offer. The first product is Clarins Gentle Eye Make-Up Remover. Now I have to admit that I’m a bit lazy when...

Clarins – Gentle Refiner Exfoliating Cream

Clarins – Gentle Refiner Exfoliating Cream

Before I start on this review I have to admit that I’m a big Clarins fan, I’ve been using their products for years. It was the first premium beauty brand that I ever used, and I love their simple packaging and the fact that their products contain natural plant-based ingredients. So, as a result this is one of my favourite scrubs and I wanted to shout about it! The scrub is a white/pale cream coloured cream and contains lots of tiny ‘microbeads’. A Clarins counter assistant once told me that the microbeads are all perfectly round – I’m not sure if that is true or not! – but they certainly don’t scratch or pull the skin. The exfoliating cream should be massaged gently into the skin using circular movements and then washed off with warm water. I like to use a scrub once or twice a week and this is my favourite as it is so gentle. It also has a lovely luxurious fragrance and smells quite special. It leaves my skin feeling...
