MUA – Power Pout in Irreplaceable

There are so many chubby lip pencils about at the moment that it’s difficult to know which ones to choose. I love Clinique’s Chubby Sticks but they’re a bit pricey so I thought I would check out MUA’s value offering in the chubby pencil market. I have already reviewed MUA’s Power Pout pencil in chic nude Rendezvous, you can read that here. Irreplaceable is a bright fuchsia pinky purple colour, it is really vibrant. I was a bit unsure about whether I could wear something so bright when I first tried it out, but as it is fairly glossy and sheer this helps to tone down the colour a little. It is lovely and buttery and moisturising and doesn’t dry out when on the lips – it stills feels soft and moisturising hours after applying it. Maybelline – Color Show Polka Dots

There are so many special effects nail varnishes about at the moment that I’ve started to not notice them quite as much, but this funky speckled varnish caught my eye in Superdrug on Tuesday – Maybelline isn’t a brand I normally look at, but I’m so glad I did! I’ve got a bit bored of having to match a glitter polish with a complimentary shiny ‘gelly’ colour varnish, but these new Polka Dots nail paints from Maybelline do that all for you! The range is available in 4 colours, I chose ‘Speckled Pink’ as it was the brightest (the other three colours are a black, a turquoise and a dark blue). The background colour is a shiny ‘gel-like’ fuchsia pink colour and suspended inside are flecks of black and white matt-coloured ‘glitter’ pieces in various sizes. I use the word ‘glitter’ in inverted commas as the flecks aren’t sparkly, so I’m not sure if they can really be called glitter, but they give a great effect and stand out well against...
