Elemis Biotec Facial Treatment

Elemis Biotec Facial Treatment

A couple of weeks ago I was invited to the Elemis counter at Harvey Nichols in Leeds for a complimentary Biotec facial and to find out all about this new range. I say Elemis ‘counter’ – it’s actually a space where you can relax and try out the products, chat with the salesperson and they’ve even got a little hidden away treatment area where you can have a fantastic relaxing facial. I’d never heard of the Biotec range before and salesperson Sarah explained how it’s been developed for use when your usual skincare routine isn’t working. It helps to energise skin cells so that they react better to your usual products and treatments, so you can use it for short bursts every now and again if your skin isn’t feeling quite right. Then Sarah analysed my skin using the Elemis super-computer. She took a close-up photo of my skin then the system showed all the areas where my face had sun damage, wrinkles, uneven skintone, blemishes, oil or dehydrated patches....

GIVEAWAY – Pink&Green Organic Facial Cleansing Oil

GIVEAWAY – Pink&Green Organic Facial Cleansing Oil

THE GIVEAWAY HAS NOW ENDED. A couple of weeks ago I reviewed the October Blogger Beauty Box and included inside it was a small bottle of Pink&Green Organic Facial Cleansing Oil. It was my favourite item from the box, and following my review Carol Aplin, founder of Pink&Green, got in touch to thank me and to offer a full size 10ml bottle of Organic Facial Cleansing Oil and muslin cloth as a giveaway for one of my readers. This is a fab skincare product that won the ‘Best Facial Cleanser’ prize in the Janey Loves Platinum Awards 2015 competition for natural and organic skincare products. It’s 100% organic made from peach kernel, sweet orange, and lavender essential oils and it smells gently floral. Whilst a 10ml bottle might not sound very much you actually only need around 3 drops to cleanse the whole face, so if you cleanse twice a day, morning and night, it should last for 6 weeks. After applying the 3 drops to the fingertips the...

The Body Shop launch Oils Of Life

The Body Shop launch Oils Of Life

This week The Body Shop® have launched the new Oils Of Life range, a collection of skincare products that all contain a blend of three natural oils – black cumin seed oil, rosehip seed oil and camellia seed oil – known for their supreme revitalising and repairing properties on skin. I’ve been lucky enough to try out a selection of the Oils Of Life products, using them for the past week, and I’ve been pretty impressed so far. Here’s what I think… The Body Shop® Oils Of Life Intensely Revitalising Essence Lotion – this is a bi-phase lotion which means that it contains both oil and water which separate out when it has been left to stand. I think the proportion of oil to water is fairly small though as the oil only takes up a centimetre or so of space at the top of the bottle. This lotion should be used a bit like a toner, you use it on a cotton wool pad after cleansing to remove the last...

Manuka Doctor – Apiclear Purifying Facial Peel

Manuka Doctor – Apiclear Purifying Facial Peel

A review of a brand new product today, it’s Apiclear Purifying Facial Peel* from Manuka Doctor. Manuka Doctor is a skincare brand that uses a couple of very specific unique ingredients within its products, mainly Manuka Honey and Purified Bee Venom (PBVi): – Manuka Honey boosts elastin and cell regeneration within the skin and it also has antibacterial and anti-inflammatory properties. You’ll probably have noticed that honey is becoming more and more popular within skincare products at the moment, due to its benefits. – Purified Bee Venom is the purest form of bee venom collected for skincare. It contains a potent combination of natural enzymes, peptides and amino acids and it’s a potent anti-ager and natural alternative to antibiotic therapy for acne. The bees aren’t harmed whilst gathering the venom, but a lot of people still think it’s cruel and PBVi is an ingredients that is shunned by cruelty-free campaigners. Purifying Facial Peel is a brand new product from the Apiclear range and I was one of the first to try it out. Aimed...

Is Sebamed Clear Face skincare the answer for acne?

Is Sebamed Clear Face skincare the answer for acne?

I’d never heard of Sebamed when I was approached by them to see if I would try out some of their products. Their Clear Face collection is a range of products developed for acne prone skin, it reminds me of the sort of thing I would have used back when I was a teenager when there seemed to be loads of this sort of thing around (anyone remember Biactol!?). I was sent a Sebamed Clear Face 3-step skincare regime to try, consisting of Cleansing Bar, Deep Cleansing Facial Toner and Care Gel and I was asked to use them for a month to see what effect they had on my skin. I have combination skin with an oily chin and nose, and I am very prone to spots particularly on my chin, along my jawline and just under my cheekbones. The Clear Face range has been developed to restore skin’s pH level to 5.5 – that of a healthy skin. Sebamed Clear Face Cleansing Bar – I just LOVE a...

Cosmic Beauty – Facial Sheet Masks

Cosmic Beauty – Facial Sheet Masks

I was recently contacted by Cosmic Beauty who are a UK provider of South East Asian beauty products – mainly facial sheet masks. They sell their products via Amazon and Facebook, and they sent me a selection of sheet masks to try. The masks included several for the face, plus an eye mask and a couple for the hands and feet – I didn’t even realise you could get sheet masks for hands and feet! As I’ve tried quite a few of these masks I’m only going to talk in detail today about 2 of them, otherwise the post would be extremely long! Face Q is a range of facial sheet masks from Taiwan. If you haven’t tried a facial sheet mask before, it is a thin cottony sheet soaked in a liquid product that you place over your face and leave for a while (just like you would do a regular cream mask). It has holes for the eyes, nose and mouth so you can still see and...

Timeless Truth – Face Masks

Timeless Truth – Face Masks

I was actually sent these sheet face masks ages ago but it’s taken me until now to get round to reviewing them. I’m not sure why it’s taken me so long, I love face masks and use one every week, but I think I was maybe put off by the fact that these are sheet masks and I thought they might be a bit fiddly to use. The three facial sheet masks that I have here are all from Timeless Truth: Charcoal Detox Brightening Mask, Organic Silk Fibre Elixir Mask and Green Tea Phenol Soothing Mask. If you’re new to sheet masks the idea is this – it’s a piece of fabric that has been soaked in the face mask product (this could be a liquid, gel or cream) and you simple peel off the backing sheet and place it over your face. There are holes for the eyes, nose and mouth so you can still see and breathe. They’re probably a little bit quicker to apply than a...

Clarins – Blue Orchid Face Treatment Oil

Clarins – Blue Orchid Face Treatment Oil

Another skincare review for you today, this time it’s Blue Orchid Face Treatment Oil* from Clarins, a real treat for dehydrated skin. This product aims to revitalise and tone skin, whilst the Hazelnut Oil within it helps to prevent further moisture loss making it perfect for Winter when cold weather and central heating can really zap skin of its moisture. You get plenty of oil in the 30ml glass bottle with pipette lid and as you only use a few drops each time this bottle will last you for AGES! The oil itself is a beautiful golden colour and it has a strong scent of patchouli which I do think it is a bit of a strange fragrance for a skincare product and it reminds me of burning incense sticks in my room as a teenager, but I am getting used to it the more that I use this oil. Around 6 drops should be applied to cleansed skin both morning and night instead of a moisturiser, first the...
